The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V127000 (air bags); however, the parts needed to perform the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Corolla matrix. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 16V127000 (air bags). The dealer was unable to provide a reasonable time frame to supply the part for the recall repair. The contact called the dealer for weeks and they kept indicating that they would call when the parts were available, but the contact received no follow up response from the dealer. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Updated 08/30/16

Takata recall. I feel that Toyota is taking too long to fix this issue. I think that it is ridiculous that they expect passengers to sit in the back seat for no telling how long. If nothing else they should give out loaner vehicles until they fix the airbag problem!

Takata recall Toyota send me a safety recall notice (interim notice) re front passenger airbag initiator module. They had the audacity to say that "until the remedy becomes available in your location, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat"!!! that is unacceptable, especially since we live in an area that receives lots of humidity (Toyota says they are prioritizing part replacements in geographic locations that are subject to consistently high absolute humidity, but they do not list which areas they think this applies to. Where we live certainly meets the high moisture criteria). Our complaint is that Toyota should replace the parts now!!), please insist they rectify their defective airbags now for our car in this high-humidity locale. On another note, this Toyota vehicle has been nothing but trouble: Water pump replaced not long after purchase (when car was basically still brand new), hub caps that fall off constantly, and most frustrating of all, a vibration/noise from the front end that the dealer refused to fix. The dealer misdiagnosed the noise/vibration by replacing the wrong front wheel bearing. When we told them the noise persisted, the Toyota dealer said the warranty was over & would not fix their previous error!! now Toyota unscrupulously sends an interim notice of a defect that could kill a passenger in our car. As before, please make Toyota fix the airbag now so we can use the car safely now!

Received a recall notice that my car is unsafe to drive and that Toyota recommends that I have their remedy performed immediately. I called as soon as the dealership opened on a Saturday and they told me that I should call back mid week because they are really busy. If my car is immediately unsafe to drive, waiting until mid week to be able to drive my car again is completely unacceptable.

Please advise Toyota to recall the 2008 matrix, as it has an affected takata airbag that may lead to catastrophic injury during deployment. I own a 2008 Toyota matrix which is in the same generation as the 2005-2007 Toyota matrix models. The airbag used in the 2008 matrix is identical to that which is used in the 2005-2007 Toyota matrix models. However, the 2008 Toyota matrix airbag was not recalled (unlike the 05-07 models) even though it has the same airbag part number as the recalled models. I believe that Toyota may have overlooked the 08 matrix as it occurred during a limited production run (there were very few 08 matrixes produced; they began selling the 09 in early 08). The airbag in my vehicle is not deployed, but I feel unsafe knowing the same airbag was recalled but my model year was overlooked.
