Toyota dealer did not acknowledge problem of intermittent headlight working...the fix was to turn switch off and on again. Not very safe when driving on dark curving road when headlight failed. Didn't replace, but now both headlights are going off simultaneously and at 70mph was dangerous to be playing a game with a headlight switch...needs to be a safety recall for all years and beyond just 50k. I now have 62k, but problem occurred first at 45k.

Headlight on passenger side stopped functioning 3 months before the warranty expiration. It began working intermittently afterward. It passed NC annual inspection in September at the Toyota Dealer, 3 weeks before the warranty expiration. Now 3 months after the warranty expiration, the headlight works very seldom. Toyota quoted a $260 charge to replace!!! I am furious, since Toyota must have known there is a problem with bulbs in their 2007 Prius cars. I will pursue a post warranty fix at no charge to me with Toyota. I have been a loyal Toyota customer for 30 years.

there are hundreds of similar complaints on line and Toyota has NOT fixed any of them at no charge to the customer since Toyota deems headlamps are "wear" items. They just replace the bad headlamp with the same faulty part and charge us (the customer) AN LEWDLY EXORBITANT FEE of $300 each time!

Toyota dealer did not acknowledge problem in 2010 with 45k..now both headlights are going off without warning. Turning off and on switch is not a safe fix to the problem at 70 mph on Interstate or anywhere else. Toyota needs to recall all Prius regardless of age or mileage for fixing the problem permanently.
