Totally rusted frame. Unsafe to drive. Never received a notice to replace a frame. Campaign ended on July 2014. Now I stuck with unsafe vehicle which still has over 100,000 miles to drive. There suppose to be another action to replace the frame.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be inspected due to excessive rust on the frame. The contact called a local dealer who referred him to the manufacturer, but was not provided any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V285000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 149,525. Parts distribution disconnect.

The frame on our 2004 Sequoia has failed its inspection due to being very rusty and having multiple perforations. We have been informed that it is no longer safe to drive until repair or replacement of the frame or portions of the frame has been completed. I spoke with multiple people with Toyota warranty claims, they have refused to assist us with getting a new frame. They claim their limited service campaign on the frame has ended and they are not able to assist at this time. They said their managers do not accept phone calls. So I have a decade old Sequoia which is unsafe to drive. Shame on Toyota!

Took my 2004 Toyota Sequoia for service at ira Toyota of danvers Massachusetts on 9/13/2012. Was notified that a recall regarding frame rust was also available and the frame needed to be inspected. Never received a letter in the mail and they informed me in person while at service that they will coat the frame in crc compound. Never even said if it was bad enough (which the photos show) that they will replace the frame. They did replace the spare tire carrier due to rust. A few years prior to 2012, payed 950$ at a local body shop to have the vehicle coated in an anti rust protection, still did not help. Have had a huge issue with rust development since buying the car brand new from ira Toyota of danvers in 2004. Since the crc was done, it has chipped away, rust is still very prevalent on frame/all over the vehicle. Have lost my front skid plate while traveling due to rust, exhaust, catalytic converter, multiple O2 sensors, heat shield, backing plate, front caliper, rear gate hinges, etc. Opened up a complaint with Toyota corporate. Said that they can do nothing and the crc isn't necessarily going to solve the problem, all other issues must be dealt with directly by the owner. Extremely unhappy and feel very unsafe in vehicle.

Frame rust makes the vehicle unsafe in less than two years. Dealership says limited service campaign C0D expired. Record of vehicle shows no inspection of vehicle throughout numerous service visits to dealerships between 2004 and now. Dealership could not tell me timeframe of campaign.

After getting off the highway and parking, I found it hard to move steering wheel and the car began making loud noise. When our mechanic looked at it, he said the entire frame had rusted, including the part that holds the power steering fluid, causing the power steering fluid to fall out, and creating the steering problems. He determined the vehicle was unsafe to drive and recommended I called Toyota dealerships to see if they would replace the frame as part of Toyota's frame replacement program. I tried calling 2 Toyota dealerships (including the one from which I purchased the vehicle) and both said they're not running that program anymore and there's nothing they can do. I then called Toyota customer service, filed my case and requesting that frame be replaced due to the extreme rust and the problems it was causing with under 75,000 mi on it. They simply said there is nothing they can do. I am now without the vehicle, which I use for my business, and purchased just a year and a half ago. When we purchased the vehicle, we were not told there had been a recall or possible problem with rust.

While having 4 new tires put on my vehicle, the mechanic told me about severe corrosion on the frame of my car. He said it was so bad it is starting to buckle. He mentioned that it was a recall and that I should contact Toyota. Toyota tells me I have no recourse as recall ended 6 months ago. I never received info on the recall and do believe that a defectively made frame should be rectified by the company, not the consumer. I am the mother of 4 children and am constantly driving carpools around town.

The drivers side rear sliding door stuck in the open position due to the electrical system. There was no way to close the door once opened. The wife had to drive to dealership with door stuck wide open in the dark. This was not safe for various reasons... I read where other vehicles had the same problems but do not see a recall yet by Toyota. We will have the dealer break the cable and render the doors electrical system useless for that door. This really causes issues for a person with a disability and a special needs child. Hopefully Toyota will step up and recall these vehicles and correct this problem.

The technician also stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was included in a manufacturer's recall but the dealer was charging for parts because there was a possibility that the part could have fractured during the remedy repair. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 132,000.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated that the latch would need to be replaced. The manufacture was made aware of the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

The liftgate handle broke and was replaced with an original equipment plastic part. According to other's complaints, I expect it to happen again very soon. Then the handle stopped opening the liftgate altogether. I finally got the gate open and replaced the pull cable but it did no good. Once while driving, the gate opened by itself and lifted up when I went over a small bump. I can't get the gate open in case of an emergency or to access the spare tire and sometimes it opens by itself. Certainly this is a major safety issue that Toyota should address.

The hole was the result of corrosion. The dealer stated that in order to repair the vehicle, the frame needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance because the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 255,000.

2004 Toyota Sequoia. The rear door (hatch) external door handle fails mid way during normal operation leading the door to continuously be ajar during vehicle operation. Door handle is disabled and there is no other way to open/close door (there is no internal handle). Total failure. Local Toyota dealer service department stated that this part fails often on Toyota Sequoias and Toyota siennas. Search of internet website reveals failure is due to use of "cheap plastic parts" on this essential piece of vehicle equipment.
