My 2004 Toyota Sequoia was the subject of a limited service campaign, no. Tc-13-013, for abnormal frame corrosion. A Toyota dealer applied a corrosion resistant compound (crc) to the frame and underside of the vehicle on March 27, 2014. I had my car serviced in August 2015 and discovered that large parts of the frame are significantly corroded, with much of the crc no longer present on the frame. Toyota responded to my complaint on August 21, 2015 by stating that the warranty for the crc is one year and that it would not authorize an inspection of the vehicle, reapplication of the crc or replacement of the frame. The frame corrosion is documented in photographs.

I sold the automobile listed above on 08/13/15 to an individual and realized after that I did not remove the plate from the car. Because I live in nc, I will have to return the plates before canceling the insurance. The current owner is driving under my registration and insurance.

My engine light comes on then the vsc and trac control light. I clear codes but they return. I'm afraid to drive this vehicle since we use it mainly to pull our boat.

Upon exiting the freeway I was on a right-turning off-ramp when I heard beeping and a crunching noise coming from the front end. It sounded as if something was seriously wrong with the vehicle. Once I was off the freeway, I pulled over and the warning lights had gone off. It has happened a few times since then, however it's only been the beeping, not the loud crunching noise. In searching online, it appears this is the same issue that the 2003's were recalled for. There have been so many complaints that Toyota should do the right thing and recall the 2004's as well.

The rear door latch failed, making the door inoperable. Use of the door for entry and exit was impossible, creating a safety hazard. Repair of this latch failure is expensive ($400 - $700) and inconvenient. The design of the part and the material used (plastic) appears to be at fault. A heavier duty metal part is now available from after market parts dealers. The problem appears to be common and widespread judging from a discussion with a local Toyota dealer service center and judging from the number of complaints and information on the internet.

The steering column jacket and controller cracked from normal wear. These 2 parts hold the gear shift and guide the vehicle in park, reverse and drive. When the incident occurred, the gear shift was in the park position but due to the cracked parts the vehicle was actually in reverse with out my knowledge. The vehicle could be turned off allowing the vehicle to move freely. The steering column cover was removed and revealed were non-supportive parts that were needed for the range of motion and force for the gear shift over time and possible inadequate die cast metal.
