Drivers side door weld broken. Toyota familiar with problem but won't fix. Toyota extended the warranty to 5 years and 100,000 miles but mine is older than 5 years. Door welds should not break in life of car. Toyota dealership body shop says they have fixed hundreds of these.

The Toyota Sienna sliding doors no longer slide. After numerous complaints, Toyota issued an enhanced warranty. Unfortunately, the parts covered will not fix the doors. The additional quote is $1,000. If you research online, this is a common problem. I believe Toyota is trying to avoid a recall on doors and parts they know to be malfunctioning.

The dashboard of the Toyota Sienna 2005 is cracking. The crack started from the ac vent on both sides so my opinion it is a bad design or component that should be recalled. The car is always inside the garage and the crack appeared around 72K miles.

I tried to close the rear door after putting my groceries in the rear well. The door closed part-way then went back up. I did it again manually and using my remote 'clicker'. same thing happened. In order to close the door I had to push it manually to close the door. We took it back to the dealer who said the struts needed to be replaced (approximately $500). Later I realized there had been a recall on faulty struts. These are the replacements. I notice on the internet where are others are now having problems with the replacements that were installed.

Our car started having problems in 2008 with the passenger side rear sliding door. It became gradually more difficult to operate and eventually would not open at all. When I took the car to the dealer in 2009 (it had 99,000 miles), the Toyota dealer said that it was a 'known problem with Siennas and recommended cutting the door cable. He said it would cost over $1000 to fix. I paid to have the problem diagnosed. The sliding door failure is a safety issue for us, and anyone with children. The door is now operated manually, which it was not designed to do. It requires an unreasonable amount of force to open/close. The safety mechanisms, which were designed into the door to prevent injury, ' these sensors do not operate now. My pre-teen children have to get out of the car on the street side, since the door is too difficult to operate. I feel that this door failed because of a design defect which Toyota has known about for several years. Toyota has apparently intentionally delayed the release of the 'warranty enhancement in order to purposefully exclude as many owners as possible from this program in order to avoid paying for repairs. My car, which had dealer-documented rear door failure in 2009 at 99K miles, is now excluded from the repair program.
