Vehicle was taken to dealership to do safety recall inspection on 21 May 2013. On 22 May 2013 I was notified that the vehicle has a silver dollar hole in the front cross member, and that it would not be fixed as the limited recall notice has expired six months prior. I contacted Toyota of usa for more information, they said that the frame replacement would not be done due to the notice expiring. The dealership told me that the vehicle is not safe to operate. I have told Toyota that I do not feel safe in the vehicle any more and do not feel comfortable driving the vehicle. They've promptly apologized, without offering a fix to the issue they've identified as a safety concern and a hazard to occupants inside the vehicle. I do not know how they've been allowed to have something as important as this become a time sensitive issue. Safety recalls do not expire, but a manufacturer as big as Toyota has been deemed as too big to fail.

My 2000 Toyota Tundra frame perforated the size of my fist due to rust near the rear shackle mounts on both sides this is the main load support area. I took this to wilson Toyota of ames and the technician stated that I would have qualified for the recall but it expired. I had it inspected last summer in 2012 they said it was fine. Toyota stated that they only had to do a visual inspection for perforation. Now 3 months after the expiration I have a serious safety concern. I spoke with Toyota corporate care who denied progression with a claim on a case basis stating the date ended. I stated if I tried to load my truck to the recommended gross towing capacity I would be afraid that I could buckle my frame or compromise the integrity. I believe the quote was "and" or something non concerning. I confronted the statement then he proceeded to state if your vehicle is unsafe to drive you should not drive it. I'm writing this to make aware as there was a lack of accountability in the process and procedure in and when my inspection was conducted. Though I may be one I fear this may lead or continue to go on to others as the progression of rust to perforate a frame in less than a years time frame a 3000K miles driven is a concern. I do reside in Iowa where we do receive just as much winter weather as il or mn which should have been included in the list as well. Thank you

Previous complaint not correct. Took vehicle to Toyota newburgh NY for safety recall replace frame was told at time had to do power steering as leaking and rust and entire cost I had to pay though compain states they are responsible or they wouldn't pass inspection, I showed them. No other choice but to do & hope to recoupe later, yeah right. Truck went in complete frame was done remarkable fast, obvious why, as I drove home the truck had not been put back on frame correct that was clear to the eye but driving it the challenge to remain on road safe.the dealer nys certified insp. Site also passed this vehicle. The truck has so many more safety issues after completion its a joke thanks NHTSA. Not to mention the malfunction of many components that worked prior, called dealer and complained, they also informed me as replace being done that the exhaust hanging by thread due to rust brackets etc the cost to repair $6000 if I bring it back they will surely violate me again, I cant afford $/aggrav. NHTSA has done nothing for me but they continue to compain on the utmost importance we as consumers are these trucks need be taken off the road. Toyota Corp. I can not get Toyota to replace my frame because the vehicle was a rebuilt vehicle. The only thing they could do was replace the rear cross member. The problem I have with this is that my truck is excellent condition with the exception of the frame. I bought it with 50,000 miles on it and it now has 189,000 miles on it. A local man had his replaced and the truck will pass an inspection. It is frustrating I sent a letter to Toyota a year ago and to no response. This vehicle has had brake lines replaced, fuel lines replaced, the frame corroded and rusted out, fuel lines rusted out, the tie rods rusted out, the tailgate rusted out, the electrical outlets for the backup and tail lights were shorting out, the entire body on this vehicle is rusting. This vehicle is a complete menace to the Toyota company. This vehicle had the front axles rusted out and the wheel fell off while driving it.

(1). I purchased a new 2000 Toyota Tundra extended cab limited at price Toyota in Delaware. In February 2009 I observed rust through of bracket from bed to frame visible through rear wheel well. Requested that my wife report this to Liberty Toyota in NJ during routine 5000 mile oil change. She was told that this was "not a problem". (2). In September 2009 truck was again taken to Liberty Toyota for 5000 mile oil change, purchase of 5 new tires and alignment. Liberty Toyota service told my wife that the truck was rusted to the point where they could no longer align the vehicle and no service was performed. Liberty took photos of the underside of the truck and transmitted them to Toyota. Approximately two weeks later Liberty told my wife that Toyota's position was that because of the age and mileage (9 years and 110,000 miles ) that they would do nothing to resolve this issue. (3). In late September 2009 I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tundra crew cab 4 door Tundra limited as a replacement vehicle for my wife a Toyota runnemead, NJ. On that same occasion the 2000 Tundra was put on lift and inspected with a powerful light. Observed various rust through of brackets and at least one fist sized hole through the frame. This was witnessed by the Toyota runnemeade sales person, general manager, sales manager, and service manager. All agreed that this was worst case of rust they had seen, and were of the opinion that the truck was not safe to operate. (4). In October 2009 I contacted Toyota customer service and received a case number. A few days later I again contacted Toyota customer service and was told that "Toyota is studying the problem". this sounded like a stall tactic and gave me little hope for any voluntary positive action from Toyota. As of today 11 November 2009 I have had no further contact from Toyota. (5). I have purchased or helped purchase 5 Toyota trucks for my family. Total expenditure approximately $150,000.

The brake lines could rupture from the severe deterioration and lead to an accident. 3. currently I am not driving the vehicle until I get new brake lines, but there is nothing that can be done to the frame of the vehicle except recalling the truck. Toyota needs to recall the Toyota Tundra before any major accidents occur and some one is fatally injured.

Driving down road and spare tire fell off underneath the truck and rolled down the middle of the road. Took truck to Toyota dealership because a neighbor (who is a service manager) looked at it and said it was unsafe and the whole bottom was rusted out.. Toyota claimed the vehicle was safe that it was just a rusted bolt. Two weeks later the muffler was loud so we took it to a midas dealership. The mechanic called me in and stated that the issue was not the muffler the bolts and clamps had rotted out and he needed to drill holes to attach new bolts. He told me that the bolts holding the joints on the bed of the truck was unsafe and he felt that I should not drive the vehicle and definitely not on the highway. So now I have had 2 people claim the vehicle is unsafe and the Toyota dealers claims it is safe. The whole underneath is a big pile of rust. Luckily no one was injured when the tire fell of while I was doing 50 miles an hour. I was allowing my teenage son to drive this vehicle, but now it spends most of its time sitting in the driveway because we are afraid of a safety concern.
