While driving on highway, felt a and heard a bump (no bumps in road) and lost most steering capabilities. After pulling to side of road. I noticed tires were pointed in different directions. After looking under the vehicle, I could see large rust holes in the frame and the rack was no longer connected to the frame. Toyota inspected the frame under recall in 2015 and said there were no problems and painted only the rear portion of the frame with an anti corrosion paint which has now also rusted away. I believe the frame should have been replaced under the original recall instead of covering with paint that did not do the job.

Autonation Toyota would not install rear tow hitch due to severity of frame rust. Cautioning that any sort of impact would total the vehicle. After reading several reviews stating very similar rust problems I have started an online petition against Toyota. Even if the frame is replaced the rust has affected many components of the vehicle. Being a safety issue. Severe bodily harm or death can occur.

On January 10 2020 my 2006 Toyota Tundra broke down. I was driving home from work it was around 4:45pm when I heard a clunking noise coming from my drivers back tire, I pulled over and checked out underneath and my tires did not see anything got back in vehicle and backed it up to a side street it made the clunking noise. I called my husband he came out and checked the truck out too couldn't determine the problem. So we had it towed to a Toyota dealership ( we have towing service plus we bought a extended warranty) since it was pass 5 pm the dealership didn't look at the truck till the next day. When they gave me a call they told me that my sway bar broke and the clunking noise was my brake drum and pad it was so rusted it busted in pieces. He also said thats not the real concern & issue he told me that my whole frame was very rusted & corrosion he stated that my truck was very unsafe to drive. After work I went to the dealership and was in complete shock the frame was so bad some parts of it you could put your finger right through it. Later we did some research and read about Toyota Tundra recall on frames. We also went back to the dealership that sold the truck to us. They were no help. We are asking for help. I'm the main driver and I love this truck paid good money and still paying. I don't understand how this truck missed the recall in the pass. The truck is in excellent shape body and interior. It only had 91,000 when we bought it. Do we fall under the recall? please let us know what we need to do. Thank you.

The vehicle's frame corrodaded so badly with holes everywhere. The suspenssions and tire mounts came off dangling away from the frame. The crossbars are so broken that the vehicle could buckle up in motion. The issues were discovered when the vehicle was taken to safety inspection station.

I purchased this vehicle from another man. The truck would steer off when it would hit a small bump or hole in the road. I took it to Goodyear to see if it was something to do with the alignment and found out the whole front end suspension and everything attached to it needed to be changed. This happens when the truck is motion and have had to change and rotate the tires more than once within this year. There is wear on the front tires on the outside. I will have to change them again when we fix the alignment. This also happens on any street and is pretty scary when driving on the highway. The tires sound like I'm peeling out or the tire is flat as I'm driving down the road. I can't make sharp turns because the tires start skipping. I have not made any repairs to it because I can't afford to pay the bill at this time. Only thing I've fixed is the tires. The lights on the dash show that the tires are low on air. The cost quoted to me would be close to $2000. I also heard from many people that the year I have with the Tundra have had the same complaints as I have. It's a 2006 Toyota Tundra and is my first truck purchase for myself.. my first vehicle was a 1983 Toyota Camry and I loved it!! I've never had any kind of issue with a Toyota in the past and would like to continue to think anything but positive things! Toyota's are definitely built to last and would love to pass it down to my son but unfortunately we have to postpone considering it's not safe for him to be driving. This is his last year in high school so hopefully we can get it back to him before the year is up.

The vehicle had a recall on the frame a few years ago, I brought it into the dealer at the time, they inspected it and said the frame was fine, they cleaned it and performed an undercoating. I recently went to the Toyota dealership for an alignment, the alignment would not hold and they broke a brake line. When the dealer went to price out the brake line they discovered the frame was all rotted out and would not repair the line. I was told it was too dangerous to put on a lift do to the frame rot. They also told me the recall on the frame had expired and there was nothing they could do about it. The dealer provided the 800 number for Toyota, I called them and received the same info, the time period for the frame recall expired. I did what I was supposed to do in the time frame, I brought the truck in and told the frame was fine. All the undercoating they did only masked the issue. The frame is now all rotted only a few years later and Toyota will not stand behind their product and fix it. How does a frame go from being inspected by a dealer and told it is fine to a point where the dealer will not put it on a lift because of the rot in just a few years? the dealer provided the pictures of the rot.

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal sound was heard coming from the undercarriage of the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic where it discovered that the front lower ball joints had started to wear. The contact stated that several weeks later, after completing a slight right turn, the front driver's side tire detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be inspected nor diagnosed. The vehicle was previously included in, and repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 07V013000 (suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

There was a recall about the frames on Tundra rusting. My was not replaced, it was just undercoated. The frame is rusting under the coating and the coating is falling off. I went to the dealer to make a complaint also called Toyota. Both would not resolve the problem. The dealer stated the frame failed but told me to call Toyota, witch I did. Toyota told me the time had run out on that recall. My mechanic told me that the repair was not done correctly and should have had a frame replacment.

We had the truck inspected in June 2019 after just doing new break lines which rusted, we had also just put new tires on it. Truck passed inspection June 2019. Truck developed power steering leak in July. While looking into the leak we noticed the frame rusted and the anti sway bar is completely rusted off the frame. Can not trade this in or sell it now. Mileage 124K.

I noticed the low tire light was blinking, and checked all the tires for pressure, and they were fine, then I looked under the truck and saw that the bracket that holds the round bar that is part of the steering mechanism, had actually pulled completely out of the frame due to rust, this truck frame was supposedly treated in 2014, and obviously did little to take care of the problem, of frame rot. Toyota is replacing frames on the majority of Tundra's and Tacoma's, but not my specific year. It is quite obvious 2006 Tundra's have the same problem.

Takata recall 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 4X4. Purchased about a year ago. Power steering failed a couple months in while driving to work. Found fluid leaking I crawled underneath and founf the entire frme rusted and both anti roll bar links have separated from control arms. The bushings and nuts were missing and the powersteering link is from rotted boot on the pasenger side.

Driving home at the end of our vacation, my wife and I were in seperate vehicles, she in front of me on I-80 going West bound. We'd just gotten off the george Washington bridge and as traffic was building and slowing, she braked ahead of me and when I pressed my brake it went to the floor. I couldn't stop in time before rear ending the car my wife was driving. It was a low speed impact, maybe 25 mph. No police report and we just kept driving after checking that all was ok. I took the truck to the shop to have the brakes repaired and the mechanic called me to say the brake lines and everything associated needed to be replaced. He stated he cannot do the work due to the fact the truck is rusted beyond repair and he felt unsafe to work underneath the truck for fear of it falling on him. I found there was a recall on the truck for rusted frame issues and the window to respond was missed due to personal reasons involving care of a since deceased mother. I tried to talk to Toyota but the short answer is I was too late even though the rusted frame is only worsening with time due to from what I understand is a manufacturing flaw with the method these trucks were produced.

First complaint was in motion came to a signal light started applying brakes to stop came to stop briefly as I was pushing brake pedal could feel grinding like under pedal and truck began to move forward while holding brake then continued to pump brake several times to try and stop it because it was moving me and my children into moving traffic intersection.. this issue has happened on a few occastions second complaint. Driver front lower balljoint grinding, popping scrubbing sound when wheel is turned any little bit while driving or stopped and popping metal sound even when anyone gets in or out of the vehicle.also since I purchased the truck in 2013 the U-joint has been replaced 3 times due to shaking taken off and slowing down when taken part off metal shavens would pour out from the part in small pile.

I never received 1st 2 notices, they don't come not registered mail. We had mail issues with usps! the regular mailman was out for 2 years with cancer so we had substitute mailmen, we didn't always get our mail, get other peoples mail etc.. we would of called about the recall if we knew! I called Toyota corporate, they didn't care, said I had 3 notices, I only received 1 notice and it was a year after it expired! I am 2nd owner. The front end in the truck is falling apart, horrible vibrating/bumping and banging when driving down the road, truck now has 92K, I googled and it came back lower ball joint problem recall, 2006 Tundra. If it was serviced by previous owner and ball joint failed again wouldn't be recalled covered again" how do you find out if it was fixed the 1st time" I don't want to put more money into it if it is covered under a recall! I bought it with 58K, it was always garaged and only did vacation trips/highway miles, previous owner worked from home. I go 7 miles/day. And highway vacation trips. Previous owner was elderly and has passed away. Any service records I don't have, but he maintained it well! recalls should come registered mail! we also have a seat belt problem, they don't always work. They jam, don't recoil, get stuck.

Takata recall rusty rear axel springs, I got recall notice from manufacture about this rusted springs, not sure what year that was. I took my truck to dealer but it did not repair at that time. So now the springs rusted more visible. This truck is still drivable.
