The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta tdi. The contact stated that while driving on the interstate at approx 55 mph, the vehicle seemed to not accelerate, although she would press the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not move past 55 mph. She activated the cruise control and then the engine revved and the vehicle was in 6th gear but manually shifted down to 4th gear. She took it out of the automatic shift and switched to manual shift and downshifted to lower the rpms. The average speed was 30 mph because she could not move any faster. It stalled twice on the side of the road and completely shut down with no warning lights prior to the failure or after. She called a repair shop and the mechanic told her to let the vehicle cool down. When she did that and was able tor restart, the check engine light illuminated. About 15 miles down the road, the vehicle shut down again. She waited again and was able to restart. When driving down hills, she shifted to neutral. She also noticed that the vehicle was jerking. She was able to get to her destination and then took it to the repair shop. The mechanic performed a diagnostics test but could not pinpoint the cause for failure. She called the dealership and left a message; she was currently awaiting a response. The contact had not called the manufacturer to-date. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was approximately 117,993. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000-bk

The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, she heard a noise coming from the front end of her vehicle. When the vehicle was parked and turned off, the vehicle would not re-start. There were no warning lights prior to or after the failure. A local mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the dual mask fly wheel (connected to the crankshaft on the engine) had a large hole (size of a silver dollar) in it. She called the manufacturer but was told that there was nothing they could do about the failure. The vehicle was repaired by the mechanic. The current mileage was approximately 79,990. The failure mileage was 78,750.

On my 2006 Volkswagen passat the cam follower has worn through and damaged the cam shaft lobe that drives the pump. This is a known issue that has affected many VW passats. It is a safety hazard as it can cause the engine to stall there for if a person is in the flow of traffic it could cause a crash to occur. Volkswagen has issued a tsb on the issue but will only perform this service if the computer shows a specific check engine light and only if still under the manufactures warranty. Volkswagen should at the least be required to inform people that the cam follower should be checked for wear at a regular intervals to prevent a possible accident.

I owe a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta that I have been back and forward for a licensed dealership reporting that my car shuts off completely while driving. Iit have been during this about June 2007 and it has been to dealership about 6 times for this same thing I took it in April 2008 and they told me I need a new engine after several of months letting them diagnose the problem. I am paying car note for a car I can not drive. I seen good morning America and they say it is only 2009-2010 models when I have a 2006 they has shut off on me in traffic in birmingham, al, mobile, and Mississippi. I call Volkswagen they told me that they could not help me because of my mileage they can only give me a 1000 dollars towards another Volkswagen. I told them that I will not buy another. At 1st they told me that I need and O2 sensor and the next time they could not find anything until they reported that it was my engine. I feel it is not fair for me to pay for a engine because I have brought the car to them on 5 occasion and I call to report the car shut off in montgomery, al on March 19, 2008 and they told me to have it tow to the dealership in Mississippi who was familiar with car. I was starting it for the tow truck to take to dealer and the car we haywild.

After about 22,000 miles the engine started losing power, and the clutch started making noises and vibrations upon engaging/disengaging. The first time it happened we were driving on the interstate, so the loss of power was really dangerous. The dealership replaced the whole flywheel and clutch assembly.

I was driving on I-80, I moved to the off ramp, and when I pushed the clutch, it went all the way down to the floor. The 2006 Jetta tdi with 26 000 miles now needed a new clutch and flywheel, $1700 repair bill. The new clutcha nd flywheel were not the same as the original. The replacement parts have been upgraded by volkwagen, why? maybe the original clutch was defective. Or Volkswagen did not take into account the added torque of the new pd engine. Very annoying.
