Fixed Right ? First Time ? Produced in the USA and available as an electronic document . Hard copy documents are printed in USA on recycled paper containing a minimum of 50 % wastepaper and 10 % post - consumer waste . © 2012 VOLVO CARS OF NORTH AMERICA , LLC Technical Journal 26767 ECM software : It may not be possible to purchase the ERS software if the ECM does not contain the latest software . If this occurs , upgrade the ECM software before proceeding . After VIDA has downlaoded the ERS software : 1 . Start the engine the normal way by pressing the start button ( not by ERS ) 2 . Turn off the engine . 3 . Lock the vehicle . 4 . Wait for about 5 minutes until the vehicle has gone to sleep - mode . 5 . Start the engine with the ERS according to the instruction below . If the engine does not start , go back to step 3 . To start the engine with ERS : 1 . Press the Lock button on the remote control . 2 .
