— More than 304,000 Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer vehicles are recalled because of problems with the second row seats.
The recalled 2020-2025 Lincoln Aviators and 2020-2025 Explorers are equipped with switches for the easy-entry second row outer seats which may bind or stick.
This can cause the seats to unlatch, fold or slide around while driving.
The specifics according to Ford:
"Misalignment of a trim bezel surrounding the switch due to this incorrect installation may result in an interference condition between the bezel and the switch button. This interference condition may result in the intermittent binding or sticking of the button in the down position."
Ford opened an investigation in April after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration contacted Ford about two complaints which said the second row seats folded and slid forward in 2022 Lincoln Aviators.
Ford discovered about 100 reports of unrequested second row seat movements while driving due to stuck buttons on 2020-2025 Explorers and Aviators.
Ford says if the button is stuck in the down position, the customer may not be able to latch, unlatch or fold the seat.
Ford dealers do not have replacement parts yet, so vehicle owners will be mailed interim recall letters June 23 to June 27, 2025. Ford and Lincoln owners will be mailed second recall letters when dealers have the necessary replacement parts. Ford estimates the recall letters will be mailed August 25 to August 29, 2025.
Ford dealers will inspect the second row seat easy-entry switch bezels for correct installation and will replace the bezels if they are damaged or missing.
Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer owners may contact Ford at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S67.
