problem #1

Dec 132018

RDX Advance AWD

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

This is an ongoing issue. The dealership acts like I’m crazy and that this NEVER happens to their older “standby” 6spd transmissions. At first the dealership said I would have to cover the issue as I was just a few thousand miles over the standard warranty even though I was still covered by the extra-extended powertrain warranty (Honda has extended it beyond the original 75k to 80k.) To me a transmission issue would signify a powertrain issue but they tried to say it was electrical and therefore not covered. The dealership’s “part guy” (for lack of a better term) took pity on the fact that it was only TWO YEARS OLD at this point and provided the part for free. I had to pay the labor cost. SUPER AGGRAVATING!!

Update from May 27, 2019: This is an ongoing issue. The dealership acts like I’m crazy and that this NEVER happens to their older “standby” 6spd transmissions. I have spoken to many other RDX owners. They all know exactly what I’m referring to when I start to describe the issue. It happens often but I can usually ALWAYS recreate the issue on a cold morning for the first few shifts. So what I’m told I will have to do is leave the car overnight and then get someone to take me to the dealership in the morning for a “ride along” to show them the issue.
