TLX Tech 2wd V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

I have had all the TLX 4cyl transmission problems. I have read about (jerkiness, hesitation, etc). I had the February

software upgrade applied and it helped, but I am still having daily problems with the transmission. It doesn't drive the way you would expect from a car in this price range.

TLX TLX 2.4L

I purchased my 2015 TLX with tech package 3 months ago. I noticed the transmission jerking as well as the brakes having somewhat of a hesitation to them. The BRAKE notification warning has come on for no reason as well. I must say I'm very disappointed in this vehicle. As a previous Toyota owner I know what it's like to own a new vehicle and not have any issues with it what-so-ever. I was attracted to the TLX because of the technology however had I known that it was going to have all these issues I would have purchased the BMW 3 series or the Audi Q4 instead. If theses issue are not resolved very soon I will be contacting the Acura corporate headquarters to make a complaint if that does nothing I will contact lemon law to see if they can help. I do have an appointment next week. I keep you all posted as to what the results were.

Not a happy Acura owner :-(

TLX 3.5SH-AWD Advanced 3.5L V6

The shift quality from 1st to 2nd and especially from 2nd to 3rd gears is unacceptable for any modern car. This is simply a bad joke that Acura, being essentially Honda that is renowned for it's quality engineering, sells a luxury vehicle that can't shift gears smoothly. This is by far the worst shifting transmission I ever drove in my life. Even the cars I drove 20 years ago were shifting smoother. It's also very unresponsive both in terms of throttle input and manual shifts, but the jerkiness is the primary complain. Really bad execution. Absolutely unacceptable in any car, but especially in one that costs as much as this one.

Since day #1-my TLX has had transmission issue's that are similiar to what I read on this forum. Jerkiness/sudden movement when stopped and so forth. Seems to occur in city traffic in low gear.

My dealer tried to explain away due to the AC kicking in? (huh). Not my first Acura so I clearly did not buy that answer. Acura did download some software that improved things, but by no means has the problem completely disappeared. There is clearly an issue with the transmission in these cars.

Well, I feel as if I made a 42500 dollar mistake. This 9 speed ZF tranny is without a doubt, the worst shifting transmission I have ever driven. And if this is "normal operation for the car" as the dealer says, Acura should be responsible for a fix or replacement of the tranny. This is NOT normal for a premium vehicle. Whoever made the decision to release this ZF 9 speed at Acura should be fired and never work in the industry again. This is my first Acura and will definitely be my last.

After owning Honda cars for 30 years, this will be my last. Just sad, the direction company is going in with design and quality no better then American cars now. Sad:(

TLX 2.4L 4cyc

Since I have gotten this car I have had issues with the car shifting extremely hard at times. It seems to happen more when the car is cold and the weather is cold but that is not always a factor. This is my 3rd Acura, 2 past TSX's, one was 6sp and I cannot even drive stick as bad as this car shifts. It seems to be the worst from 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4, after 4 or 5 it smooths out. I have had the car into the dealership and was told they did a computer update after I insisted there was a problem and made them call Acura. The update did not fix the problem.

The 2015 Acura TLX "jerks forward" when shifting gears. The driving mode does not seem to make a difference. The jerking is especially pronounced when the car is first driven. Have returned it to the dealer twice with no successful resolution of the problem. I'm really disgusted with the performance of what was supposed to be an innovative new model. I'm also concerned that the extreme jerking forward could be a safety issue.

TLX Tech 3.5L LV6

The gear shifting is substandard for a luxury car of this caliber. As a matter of fact, even my old truck with over 200,000 miles on it shifts smoother than this car.

I took the car in after 3 days of owning it with less than 75 miles on it. First time, the dealer said that it was my driving style and the car in not broken in yet, etc. I then drove it with Acura mechanic and he noticed the jerking. they had my car for one week and it was still the same. The second time I took the car in and the dealer kept it for 21 days (remind you folks that the car had less than 350 miles on it and I had driven it for less than 12 days by then). I was told that the manufacturer was aware of the issue and was working on the controlling software. While i was still waiting, the manufacturer had sent a, in progress, transmission software update that was loaded to my car. The result was the same, very jerky and now the RPM was much higher at all speed. I drove the car with their mechanic and we were both convinced that the problem persisted. They kept the car for another 7 days and finally told me that Acura was working on a solution and they will call me when they have an update. The dealer told me if you want it fixed, you need to take it to Acura directly as the dealer did not have that much power dealing with the manufacturer problem.

Other issues with the car include false alarm flashing "Brake" when there are no other cars around. This safety future is supposed to warn you when you are getting too close to the vehicle in front of you.

Transmission issue just like the other folks. sitting in the Acura dealer right now getting the same story about the software patch that is coming "next week". In the meantime they're still selling the car from the sales floor to unsuspecting customers. I should go tell the customers before they buy.

I am very unhappy with the transmission on this car. There is a significant jerk when the car is shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. The dealer says this is working as designed.
