Q7 Technique V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 35,000 miles

There is an Audi service bulletin on this issue. Look for Audi service bulletin 44 20 74 2048563/3. Check your tires, if you have less than 12000 miles and your Audi is less than a year old, you will get new tires.

In my case, my Audi dealer did not make me aware of the bulletin (I did not fall in the parameters of the bulletin but it is obviously a known issue) and tried to sell me four new tires and an alignment at a total cost of close to $4000.00 (CAD).

I refused and went to a Goodyear tire shop where the tire shop called Goodyear and was able to get a 30% discount on replacement tires. The alignment on the vehicle is within Audi spec so no alignment is required.

As Audi has not done anything to figure out why the tires are shredding, I suspect the new tires will be shot in a year. That is not a issue for me as the vehicle is leased and will be returned.

I love the Q7 but can't tolerate the overall dishonesty from the dealer in that they told me the issue was a result of the vehicle being out of alignment.

My next vehicle will not be an Audi.
