The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with soft close doors where the doors closed just a little bit, and an engine finished latching the door shut completely. The contact stated that the doors popped open with him just leaning against it while the vehicle was parked. The driver's door and rear driver's side door were not automatically shutting. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2008 BMW 750li. While making a right turn, the front driver side door independently opened. The contact had to hold the door to keep it from opening. In addition, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to braman BMW West palm beach (2901 okeechobee blvd, West palm beach, fl 33409, (561) 609-0130) where a diagnostic test was performed, but the contact was unaware of the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V328000 (latches/locks/linkages). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2008 BMW 750I. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V328000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called shelly BMW at (888) 618-0131 (6750 auto center dr, buena park, ca 90621) where it was confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact was advised to call NHTSA. The contact had not experienced a failure. While attempting to close the front driver's door, the door failed to connect. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available/parts distribution disconnect.
