While driving, I noticed my engine started sputtering and had problems accelerating. Soon afterwards, the "malfunction indicator light" (aka check engine light) came on and stayed on. I contacted the dealer and took it in for repair. It was diagnosed as "pistons misfiring". I had pistons/cylinders replaced at a cost of several hundred dollars. A couple of months later, the same thing happened and I had other pistons/cylinders replaced. This has happened about a half dozen times between March 2014 and today (March 2015). I have paid thousands of dollars for this same problem and I do not understand why a recall has not been issued. The dealer told me that there are several pistons/cylinders that can trigger this problem. Just by doing a simple search online, I see that many others have experienced this problem with the Buick Enclave. As of today, 31 March 2015, my engine began sputtering and the check engine light came on again. I have lost faith in Buick behind this and I do not believe I will purchase another Buick.

Having a problem with coolant leaking out water pump. It doesn't do it all the time. But I did find that there was a recall about a bad seal in the water pump that causes this problem. Not sure if my vehicle is associated with it but worried that it may cause fire or cause vehicle to over heat.

Purchased 2009 Buick Enclave new in April 2009. Taking it to the dealer for the third time in a week for the steady malfunction indicator light (aka check engine light). First visit (Wednesday) revealed pistons misfiring. Approximate cost - $400. Second visit (Friday) did not reveal anything. Dealer stated that when the mil was 'fixed' on Tuesday, it probably triggered something to make the mil go off for no reason. Or, it could be a real problem that will only be revealed after the mil is reset. If the mil does come back on, it's probably the catalytic converter - which will cost almost $600 for the part and $400 plus for the labor. Mil came back on Friday evening. Third visit is tomorrow and I shudder to think what will happen. After researching online, it appears many Enclave owners have experienced problems with the mil. Very costly problems. Have had the same problems that others have experienced - timing change, batter replaced at an unusually short period of time after purchasing vehicle, power steering, memory seat motor blew, peeling paint from A/C and radio buttons and other buttons, etc. Really enjoyed the Enclave but starting to regret this purchase as it is only 5 years old. Some of these problems should have been recalls and no cost to consumer.

The engine on my 2009 Enclave was replaced in Feb of 2012 because it was cracked, at the time I had approximately 32K on the car. There was no indication of a problem the car just died on a major highway. The car again died a few weeks later due to a timing belt snapping. On 8/10/12 I was traveling from my home state of New York to Virginia for vacation, with my family, and the car lost power again on a major highway at 10:30 at night we had to have the car towed, find a hotel and then rent a car to get to our destination. This time it was a fuel injector and an O2 sensor. We have incurred over $900 in expenses we have contacted Buick and they are not willing to do anything about this car. We will no longer be covered by a warranty after 50K the car currently has about 43K. The car has broken down 3 times since Feb. Each time with my family in it, there is never any indication that the car is going to break down it just dies. I am fearful to keep putting my family in this car what do I do?

The check engine light came on. I took the vehicle to the dealer and it was diagnosed as a "stretched" timing chain. The vehicle was under warranty and the dealer replaced the timing chain. The vehicle only had 30,000 miles when the problem arose.

Vehicle 2009 Buick Enclave. Keeps turning on the light engine and at the dealership they keep telling me that is because I don't close the gas knob correctly. When the engine light turns on while im driving it gives me a message of power engine reduce and it reduce my speed and I can't continue driving. I've almost cause 2 accidents while im driving due to this issue. It will completely stop in certain times while im driving. Last incident 06/05/10. As well, my tire got flat around a month ago and I realized the dealership sold me the vehicle with no extra tire and emergency equipment to change my tire.
