LaCrosse CXL 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Passenger seat belt light comes on intermittently (mostly on). Reported to dealership which was told it is a very expensive fix but not necessary to fix unless I wanted it to work properly. I did report it to the US Safety Board hoping there were enough complaints for a recall, that never happened so I live with it.

I have reported this problem earlier this year. The air bag light is on and off intermittently. In Dec 2012 the passenger seat module was replaced. In Feb 2013 I took the car back in because the air bag light was still coming on. The dealer told me I didn't weigh enough. You need to way 40 lbs and I weigh 3 times that much so this was/is BS. I have been back to the dealer in Sept 2016 because the issue is getting worse. I have been in touch with GM customer service. No one will make a commitment to fix the issue. Probably because they don't know what it is. The dealer suggested I pay $1200 to replace the seat module again to see if that might fix it. I refuse to pay out $1200 for them to see if that MIGHT fix the problem. This is definitely a safety issue as others have mentioned in many posts. I don't know why GM doesn't have a recall. This is maddening.

air bag for passenger seat light on

I found it very interesting to see that this is a very ongoing issue. The dealer replaced the front passenger seat which did not fix the problem. I took the car back several times after that and the dealer could not identify the problem. Told me I didn't weigh enough. That is a real joke. This issue started several years ago and is getting worse all the time. The air bag warning light now comes on if no one is sitting in the seat. We have given up and hope that the air bag deploys if we are in an accident. The dealer told us they have never heard of this problem which is obviously a lie. Glad I found this site.
