I smelled gas coming from the car and found a small pin hole leak in the fuel line behind the engine. The line was routed in a way that allowed it to make contact with a solenoid housing and this caused it to eventually rub through. This car has never been worked on so the routing issue is clearly from the factory. Based on the way the line is routed it looks like all (if not most) of the 2016 Lacrosse models will have this issue. This is a very dangerous situation. A small fender bender can easily result in a fiery explosion with the mount of fumes that build up under the hood.
