problem #3

Dec 032007

LeSabre Limited 3800

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,500 miles

The car started stalling out. Just once every once in a while but now seems to be getting worse. The dealer said to change the fuel filter (it's changed) and if the problem gets worse to bring it in for a diagnostic and have a mechanic work on it. I have read on the internet that this has let to some very expensive and unnecessary part replacements. Seems like a complete power drop for a second or two while on the highway but just dies while at idle or slow driving.. For now the car restarts but worry that one day it will not. Where will I be when that happens? I guess I will just tell myself to have a nice day!!!

P.S. just got pulled over because the license plate lights were not working. (HA HA HA) Replacement is nearly futile with the location and design. If at first you don't succeed try try try. Short fingers do not help. The four screws are not what they seem.

LeSabre LX 3.8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 127,000 miles

98 Buick LeSabre.3.8 Driving up hill, down hill, coasting, it doesn't matter. 1 or 2 times a week the engine just dies. Sometimes I can catch it full throttle and it will pick up and run fine. or throw it in N on the fly and restart instantly. New fuel pump and filter Usually starts good. some times I have to stop cranking it after 5 sec 1,2,3 times before it starts. This only happens 1 time every week or two. I've been told after the engine is running you can unplug the crank sensor and it will still run. So this rules that out, Yes? Also told Cam sensors are not usually intermittent they either work or don't, Yes? It's been doing this for 1 Yr The manager at Advance auto said get a good computer diagnostic done. He changed $600 of parts on his mothers car before the computer told him there was a broken wire to a sensor. How? He says a good comp diag can send voltage through the wire to test the sensor and can tell if there is a broken wire. I haven't done that yet hoping some one could lead me in the right direction.

LeSabre Custom V6

  • Automatic transmission

this happens usually when I slow down. It has happened on the interstate. The Buick garage reset the computer but it did not fix the problem, Can any one tell me what's wrong?
