Dad retired from GM after 35+ years. Have owned GM myself off and on over 20 years now. Will NEVER own another GM product new or used. Too many lemons, new and used. Best cars I ever owned were 2 used Nissan's that each had 120K+ on them when purchased! The GM family/ employee discount is only given up front because that's how much you should set aside for repairs on the piece of SH-T later on, if not more! Currently own a 2000 Lesabre. Bought used with 55K on it. Beautiful car until BOTH back windows quit within a month of each other. Cruise control quit while on a trip with the wife last weekend. On Board Message Center in the dash has a mind of its own now and flashes anything other than the wanted information: codes, jibberish, messages to E. T. Phone Home, who knows? The only thing it DOES flash that's readable is CHECK TIRE PRESSURES. I don't even know how many miles I have on it these days! I change oil once a month, which should be around 3000 miles or less for sure. This is a beautifully seductive ride. Once it lures you behind the wheel, the multiple personalities begin to reveal themselves. I can say that UAW will build you a good car if you give them good parts to build it with. Unfortunately, GM would rather save money by engineering cheap, crappy parts to build a car with. They save even more money by contracting out many of those parts to folks who build them even more shi--y. Can you say Delphi? Talk about an outfit known for a quality product! Yep, this is the last GM vehicle that will ever have my name on the title. It's a DAMN shame our big 3 have a well paid, quality minded work force to assemble their poorly engineered shi-buckets! Even a workforce like the UAW can only do so much. You can shine and polish a turd all you want, but in the end, it's just a glowing turd.
