In a small town, approaching a stop sign at the highway crossroad with 2-3 vehicles in front of me. I removed my foot from the accelerator and started braking. The engine immediately revved, I moved my foot to try to raise the accelerator and it was all the way to the floor; it would not raise. I immediately placed in neutral and as pulling as close to curb as possible, I shut the ignition off, then placed in park. It had to be towed back home until we can deal with it. Luckily, I was able to act quickly enough to prevent any damage to any other vehicle or person.

The consumer also stated the vehicle had poor gas mileage, the three out of the four windows collapsed in the down position, and would not come back up. The consumer believed the engine and the hood were defective, as the paint on the hood melted.

Gas pedal sticks at idle position. This is not a problem in neutral but if in drive causes a sudden vehicle acceleration. This is very dangerous.

Accelerator pedal requires excessive amount of force to depress the pedal. This results in a noticeable surge when going forward from a stopped position. It almost feels as if there is spring holding the throttle open and there is a break point at which the spring lets loose before the throttle opens. A visual inspection of the throttle and throttle body did not reveal any obstructions or binding cable. The floor mats are not a factor in this problem. Problem is most noticeable after the car has been started and placed in the drive position. This problem has persisted for the past several years and is the same in both winter and summer. I have just learned to live with it and expect a slight jolt when moving forward but I have been unable to find the root cause and I worry whenever someone else drives my car. This surge is noticeable to passengers also.
