Lucerne LX 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

This Buick Lucerne has had a lot of problems now the engine shuts off while driving on the freeway. I replaced a lot of parts, battery, spark plugs, alternator, ignition, still have no solution. This is a very dangerous situation. When I pull over I don't have power steering or power brakes but the engine starts up again. Then I never know when this will happen. Anyone know a solution I would like to know. This has occurred 4 times.

bought the car used just 3 months ago, had no problems until last week. Wife coming home, car died at about 45 mph and she coasted to side of road, sat there a few minutes cranked back up. no problem until may 5th 2014 left her stranded at mall, would not crank only clicked when trying. got it jumped off replaced battery thought problem was solved. drove to nearby town about 50 miles away. got ready to leave to come home cranked fine drove about 200 yards shut down could not get started. mechanic came remove gas cap cranked up. tried to restart about 30 minutes later would not crank, starter would spin engine and the engine tried to fire but would only sputter and then quit. mechanic says ign. module is at fault will replace today we will see. Going to contact GM in a few minutes to see what is going on. like some feed back from you out there.

Update from May 18, 2014: got it fixed it was the electronic module
