2006 Buick Rendezvous: Operator stopped the car in parking lot, turned off the ignition and removed the keys. Car was in drive "D" and keys were removed. Later, car rolled backward and hit another car in parking lot (luckily no one was injured). Dealer indicates that the keys cannot be removed when car is in drive. The Rendezvous safety feature in the steering wheel / ignition is not working.

Problem with emergency brake on 2006 Buick Rendezvous. I am unhappy with the emergency brake on the Buick. After some discussion with the repair department of the dealer, described in the copy of the letter to the dealer below, I was told that the emergency brake was not adjusted properly and they fixed it; of course under warranty. But, in my opinion, the brake is still not adjusted properly. It does not hold the car. The car feels safely stopped only when in 'park.' I have an Oldsmobile Silhouette and when we put on the emergency brake, it holds the car. In reply to the attached letter I received a phone call from a representative of the anderson dealership, Mr. Taylor. He told me by phone that the emergency brake on the Buick Rendezvous was different than the Oldsmobile by design and that it really wasn't intended to fully hold the car when it is stopped but in 'drive.' I have two questions. 1. how is the Buick Rendezvous supposed to be stopped in the event of regular brake failure" 2. is this something with my particular Buick or is this something that needs to be taken up with GM to fix" ************below is my original letter to Mr. Mortimer*************** I am unhappy with the emergency brake on the Buick. I raised this with the service department on my first or second visit after purchase. One of the first things I was told was that for service to look at this would cost me some money. This is when the car had only a few thousand miles on it and is under a bumper to bumper warranty. When I pointed this out the gentleman said it might take time to fix because the brake man was not in. I said I would wait. Afterwards, I was told that the brake was not adjusted properly and they fixed it; of course under warranty. But, in my opinion, the brake is still not adjusted properly. It does not hold the car. In the Silhouette, when we put on the emergency brake, it holds the car.
