Hello, I have a 2005 Buick Terraza cx AWD. My ABS and traction control lights came on and when it did the vehicle started to apply the brakes itself pulling the vehicle to the left while driving. I couldn't control the vehicle. I started reading up on this, and it appears many other owners of this vehicle been having this same unsafe problem over the years and no recall is been done. This is a very serious issue!!! I'm surprise no one has been involved in an accident and been killed. I also notice this has been reported many times as well to the manufacture and they haven't done anything about it but come up with excuses to the owners like myself. Do someone has to be killed before a recall is done? I myself is going to take my video I had filming on my windshield when this incident ocurred and send it to all the major news media groups in this country and put it on social media as well. Thank you for reviewing my complaint, and hopefully the government make Buick the manufacture do a safety recall asap. At 90,900 mileage on my van, I started experiencing problems with my stability control, ABS, and my traction control system. When driving at numerous speeds, the stability control system would kick in, would grab at my drivers side front wheel and make the van swerve to the left. On the instrument panel, it would say to "service stability control". this has happened when I was traveling at 40 mph, at 20 mph, and just starting to drive after taking a turn. This has also happened to me today to where I was pressing the brake and the traction control kicked in on dry pavement while I was going less than 30 mph. I have had my 4 children in the vehicle when this has occurred and has scared them as well as myself and my husband. This vehicle is our main form of transportation.

The 2005 Buick Terraza is equipped with a GM stabilitrack system, which combines anti-lock brake, traction and stability control systems. I was driving this vehicle at 60 mph on a straight road during a dry, sunny day and fully loaded with camping gear, children, their computer games and my wife. The vehicle was pulling a small trailer. In an instant, the van lurched as the brakes engaged on their own. We lost 20 miles per hour in a second. We pitched forward in our seat belts, and the van swerved to the left into the other lane of the interstate. I steered as best I could, but it felt like suggesting a direction more than driving. Everything was mushy and the trailer wanted to keep going. We pitched left and right twice. The panel said that the 'stability control system active.' I managed to steer to the right shoulder and stop. I breathed and pressed on the hazard lights. The kids asked what happened, and I managed to say that we only took a year off of my life, saved theirs, and ended the life of this van. A mile ahead, the interstate was restricted to one lane going each direction.

I recently bought this 2005 Buick Terraza cx. As per carfax the vehicle has been beautifully maintained. After a week of having my vehicle I will be driving around and the service traction control light comes on and the vehicle will screech on its breaks and pull to the right. I have taken it into the dealership where they replaced the sensor and a week later it continues to randomly brake when excellerating, or even turning. This has happened 3 times now. It is very scary driving down the road and all of a sudden your vehicle screeches to a halt and has the vehicle swerve.

As we were driving home in may of 2014 the left front brake grabbed as if I had applied the brake, since then we have had both wheel bearings replaced lower ball joints and tie rod ends but nothing has changed. It has grabbed several times since then, this is a serious matter that should be dealt with, I refuse to let my wife drive the van especially when we have our five children with us because when this occurs it jerks the to the left towards oncoming traffic.

While driving on a straight road at 30 miles an hour I heard a strange noise and the left front brake closed for a second which caused the steering wheel to jerk to the left. Since that first time I have had this happen many times while driving anywhere from 15 to 70 miles an hour. I have taken it to two dealers which found various codes. Apparently there is a service bulletin concerning the wiring harness because both dealers rerouted the harness several times and put a shield on it each time. I had the steering sensor replaced one time for $200 and the yaw sensor for $400. After the yaw sensor was changed the vehicle did not give me any problem for a full year. It started again so this time I pulled the fuse on the ABS brakes which gives you standard brakes and I have not had any more problems. I now have 120,000 miles. This is definitely a safety problem. If I keep both hands on the wheel I can react to the problem but I am afraid to let my wife drive the van. I like everything else about the van so I hate to get rid of it. I have driven cars with out ABS brakes all my life so I will continue to drive it this way. I feel it is safer this way than letting the brake engage on its on.

I want to report a very unusual incident that my wife and I experienced January 7, 2014 involving our 2005 Buick Terraza automobile. It was a scary event of which I am still trying to find the exact cause. While descending from the cocoa bridge crown, at around forty five mph, I lightly applied the brakes to adjust to the traffic speed. When bam the left wheel lock up jerking us toward the cement rails on the left side of the bridge, then the car traction control' cut in and slowed the vehicle. Other car tires were squealing around us as they were trying to avoid hitting us. I would say the wheel lockup was one second or less and the whole incident lasted from three to five seconds. Then the car returned to normal operation with no further hint of this problem for the next forty miles. I've looked on the internet and found several reports of this same exact incident including many complaints on your system. I took the car to our local garage and they said the ABS computer system showed no faults and found no mechanical reason for this wheel to lock up. My next stop was the dealer where I bought the car twenty five miles away. Lane Buick GMC checked it out and reported the same thing except the mechanic wrote 'corrected by suspension repair' which suggests that he fixed something, what ever it was. Yet I understood from the service representative they couldn't find anything to cause this unheard event. I next called Buick in detroit, mi they were of little help saying if it didn't leave any code on the computer, it never happened. Then ask if I would consider buying a new car and trading this one in. Until I know what the mechanism is for this car behavior, I would never unload this problem on someone else. It is like the emperors new clothes story, no one at GMC has ever heard of the problem before.

Randomly, while driving the ABS system activates the brakes, pulling the car to one-side. If my memory serves me correctly, it pulls to the right. After this happens, the car's "traction control active" message appears on the instrument panel. Parking the car, turning it off, and restarting the car causes the message to go away. This has happened about 4 times in the past 3 weeks at speeds varying from 5-35 miles per hour. I fear that it could be potentially dangerous if this were to happen at higher speeds.. the car has been checked, prior to this incident, by an ase certified shop and both front wheel hubs have been replaced within the past 18 months, which have integrated wheel speed sensors. I have read that most shops have been unable to pinpoint any reason for this problem, but I do plan to have my mechanic investigate and see if the computer is reporting any error codes.

There are several defects that I am experiencing with this van. These issues escalated this weekend, the traction control and system stability indicators came on again and caused the brakes to lock I changed the brakes because I thought that was the cause it was not. Also the rear sliding doors will open while driving on their own. This van has been in the shop at lou fusz saint louis, mo several times and it is still not operating. This is a safety issue I am lucky that I was not on the highway when the brakes locked up, unfortunately that is not the case with the doors. I cancelled a trip to the zoo with my kids because the doors opened on their own while on the interstate, they are now afraid to ride in the back seats.

In the summer of 2010, I was driving on an on ramp to the interstate when it felt like the brakes grabbed and wouldn't allow me to accelerate (53604 miles). The car pulled to the left, and I had to work overtime to get the car to stop on the side of the road. Several cars were behind me ' expecting me to speed up ' and it could have been a very bad situation. I was towed to a Buick dealership, but they could not re-create the issue. The manager then got in the car with me driving so that we could see what would happen. We didn't get far before it happened again. I speculated that the issue was with the ABS system, but they couldn't find the issue so my thoughts could not be affirmed. Fast forward to January 2011, my ABS symbol and 'service stability system' alert come on, and the car grabs and makes a crunching sound (59287 miles).

Bought a 2005 Buick terreza in Sept. 2009 39,500 mi. Approximately 31 days after purchase stability control sensor on drivers side front went bad. Making the whole front end lock up. Galpin Ford who we bought Buick from paid for lamb Chevrolet to fix the sensor Buick had 42,000. On it when went out. 30 days later same incident happened my front end locked up and on dash said stability control active stabilize stability system took back to lamb Chevrolet and at that time they said wiring was faulty making sensor go out again so they rewired the Buick this time plus replaced sensor for 2nd time. 7 months later once again front end locksup and same msg. Stability system active take back to lamb Chevrolet and same sensor for 3rd time has went bad they cant figure out why. This is a major safety issue and even if I was to pay to get fixed again its quite obvious it will go out again. It just a matter of when will it go out. While im driving down road going 65 with my 4 children thinking vehicle is repaired again and all sudden front end locks this vehicle will eventually end up killing myself or a passenger or innocent bystander. I have receipts for all repairs maintenance done on 1st complaint found online: I have had for the past seven months far outweigh the good. Neither Buick nor the dealer will do anything to compensate me for my loss of security in this vehicle. It the last and biggest problem was while driving on a major highway on a crowded Saturday afternoon, the steering completely locked up, the traction control light and service stability system lights came on, I had no ability to steer, use the gas or brake, the van kept swerving from side to side 2nd complaint: Is it ok to drive our 2005 Buick Terraza with the service stability system, ABS and traction control light on" we are planning to drive ~ 1600miles on vacation. Is it safe to drive the van with the service stability system, ABS brakes and traction control system message on computer"

Was driving at highway speed when the ABS engaged on one side. The car jerked and lurched. My children & I were fortunate we didn't crash. Once the ABS released, the traction control engaged and then tripped out. "service stability system" message was then displayed. This happened repeatedly while awaiting the local dealer to have time work on van, I was told they were too busy to look at it even though this was an urgent problem. When they worked on the van they stated the yaw rate sensor needed replacing. Item was replaced and van returned on 9/21/2010, cost approx. $500 on 9/24/2010 same problem presented.

After having my car repaired & returned on 9/21/2010 my van starting repeating the same problem again on 9/24/2010. The problem is while driving at highway speed the ABS engages causing the van to jerk & lurch narrowly avoiding a wreck. Returned the van to the dealer for days, was told it was the yaw rate sensor which was replaced less than a week before. Dealer agreed that it couldn't be that but was never able to find the problem. They cleared the code and returned the van on the 10/1/2010 without any repair being done. This the third time we have had this problem with GM. There must be a design problem that needs to be fixed before someone is killed in an accident. All removed parts were retained by the dealer.
