I've had my car in the service department of the local dealership for this problem before. I was told the manufacturer said it was "normal operation" for it to jerk like that when backing. I recently went out of state and was having the same jerking action as I was accelerating in drive. It feels like the car is struggling to stay in gear and losses acceleration power. It is especially noticeable when there's an incline at take off. I didn't notice this problem when I first bought the car so how can it be "normal operation"? I expect GM/Cadillac would take better pride in their vehicles and correct the problem. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can address this besides a lawsuit?

The worse problem that I encountered with this vehicle can only be described as a violent hopping that the front end of the vehicle would do when backing and turning simultaneously. You could hear the bumping noise and feel it in the car, especially on the brake pedal as you slowing. backed up and turned the wheel, as you would when backing out of a parking space. The feel/noise was much worse in the cold months, especially if it sat outside for an hour or so in the cold. It literally felt and sounded like you had hit something or someone with your vehicle. I wrote letters to GM, took the car into the dealership on countless appointments trying to fix it, spoke to service representative from GM up to and including the Executive Office. They came back with "the car is functioning as engineered". I told them countless times that they were setting themselves up for a law suit as I had found out thru investigating and speaking with other owners of the CTS Performance Coupe and actually spoke to a sale person from the dealership, that this is a known problem with the CTS Performance Coupe as well at the CTS-V's. I finally got so frustrated that after 20 months I got out of the 39 month lease and got into another full lease for a 2013 ATS, which has been awesome. My concern is that now the Dealership has the CTS on the lot for sale with all of these problems still there! GM would not do anything to help out in any way, (so disappointing from a manufacturer who has always had my business and my family's business with all of our cars) and since I made the safety decision to get out of the lease - I'm pretty much screwed because I no longer "own" the car!!! So if you are in the Raleigh NC area and looking for a used CTS to buy - look at the VIN number and don't buy this one, which surprise, surprise is priced over $6000 more than what they allowed me on the trade in! Buyer beware! Don't buy this car - it's a lemon!
