Chevy has a known issue with the pcv system on their 2.4l ecotec engines for multiple years, including the 2014 Equinox. There is a service bulletin 14882, which apparently excludes many vin numbers that should be included. Local dealers and corporate apparently won't act on anything if vin is not listed, even though it’s the same problem. What ever happened to good old common sense?

It’s frustrating to pay so much for autos and listen to the marketing hype on features like oil monitor, tire monitor, etc. To make the sell - then when something is wrong they tell you it's crap. And then not to pay attention to them when they can't be trusted. I wish I could have chosen to leave them out and saved the money. In this case if the pcv system fails, it can blow rear gaskets and cost $2000-$5000. In my case, I caught it prior to catastrophic failure, just causing stalling and other symptoms, related to moisture getting sucked into the throttle body {power loss, misfire) due to bad pcv design.

The moisture collects in a reservoir in the breather cover and can spill over into the throttle body. It can freeze and blow gaskets, big money. Whatever happened to making things right? I’m surprised anyone deals or puts up with such crap. This case could be solved for a small portion of the cost of replacing rear gaskets but they won't cover, either, since it wasn't included in the list or being over 12,000 miles (what does bad design have to do with mileage?). I'm sure they couldn't have made a mistake creating the list. I wish they would spend more time training management on the importance of treating customers with respect. American auto makers may not get a public bailout next time they are in trouble.
