Avalanche LX V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 148,370 miles

I had to hit my brakes suddenly in order to miss a car that suddenly cut into my lane. The truck stopped and then my brake line burst leaving me without any brakes. I had my truck towed to my garage for repairs. When the repairs were done on the truck and it was being backed out of the shop the tech applied the brakes and the other brake line burst. Now it goes back in for repairs to the other brake line. This happened because the brake lines were installed without the thought of protection from corrosion. I think this was very poor and careless install of brake lines that very easily could have resulted into a very serious accident with a possibility of a loss of life

Avalanche Z71 5.3

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

Noticed this a week after I bought it used with approx 78000 miles on it. I tow a camper and am worried about this issue. At what point do you replace it? After I lose my brakes going down hill towing a camper?? After a wreck happens?? I don't want to replace if it's not a safety issue, but it's always on my mind on what to do. Anybody have a clue on the cost of replacing a brake line?
