2000 Blazer transmission failed, cost $3000 to repair. Left ball joint failed and replaced all $500, pitman arm, idler arm, tie rods right and left needed replacement. Left front wheel bearing hub failed and was replaced, both $800. Overheating due to dexcool leak at intake needed replacement. I have a $20,000 piece of junk sitting in my driveway.this was ongoing from earlier year models but no recalls for this year, why no body died ? fuel gauge bounced.

I have experienced failure of both front hubs, I can understand one but amazing that it would happen to both. The Firestone where I go to did not detect a problem a month before and considered it strange that both went out at the same time.

Blazer 4WD 6-cyl

  • Manual transmission

I have multiple complaints, the gas gauge on my vehicle stop working and I ran out of gas in the middle of the street when I realized problem 2 the rear brake lights and hazard lights do not work. The other problem is the vehicle stalls, and when it finally take off, the car jerks and the driver seat moves/slides back from the hinges which caused me to not be able to reach my breaks and run into a curb. Also the driver side door sticks and is difficult to open. Lastly the wheel baring and ball joints have gone bad twice and the car has less then 75000 miles on it. I called GM customer service department and explained all of my concerns and was told they we not aware of any nationwide problem and there was nothing they could do except fix the hazard light malfunction. I researched on the net and found many many people complaining of the same concerns I have.

(1) 2000 Chevy Blazer 4WD with 27665 miles; properly maintained with il and lube every 3,000 miles, no off road or abusive driving and I am original owner and bought new. (2) last month began to hear growling noise from front end which grew louder with increasing speed. Noise would increase even louder if steering wheel moved to right. (3) took car to dealer for diagnosis and repair. Service department told me both front wheel bearing were "shot" and needed replacement, and said there was danger wheel would fall off. I expressed concern over safety if this were to happened on highway and surprise that a well maintained vehicle with low mileage would have this kind of problem. I was told they see this every week with other General Motors vehicles with low mileage. Sounds like an unacceptably high rate of manufacturing defect potentially placing people at risk and causing unnecessary consumer expense for repair.

Blazer 4WD 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles
I am complaining about the front wheel bearing on a 2000 Blazer with only 36,754 miles on it. These are sealed bearings and no way to service them, they are suppose to last the life of the vehicle. The vehicle vibrates and makes noise and is ruining my tires and could make the vehicle wheel fall off. I got the vehicle used but have only put 10,000 miles on it in 2 years and I have the vehicle serviced every 3,000 miles and have all the records. I feel that there must be a problem with the bearings for them to go in 36,000 miles if that is considered the life of the vehicle maybe I should start buying Ford.

Blazer 4WD 6-cyl

Front wheel bearings: Apparent defective parts that fail frequently and have to be replaced. The Chevy dealer says they keep plenty of them in parts store since they're always replacing them. Dealer says manufacturer is well aware of the parts problem but refuses to even acknowledge it or reply to questions from dealer.

Replacement of both front wheel bearings at 60,000 miles. Lots of road noise and "hum" vibration coming from front end for several thousand miles, then it got real bad when turn steering wheel to left. Small time mechanic has replaced bearings on 12 Blazer over the course of 6 months. One dealer acknowledged that many Blazer have been in to replace front wheel bearings anywhere from 30-80000 mile. Mechanic thinks it's caused by lack of adequate grounding for the ABS braking system.

Blazer 4WD 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,699 miles
Purchased 2000 Blazer 11/24/00. Many problems since. Transmission cooler line, warranty repair. Oil cooler lines, upper and lower, warranty repair. Warranty expired and they are leaking still. Problem never really fixed. Idler arm, warranty repair. Driver side recline handle driver seat fell back would not return to upright position, warranty repair. Both front wheel bearings and rotors, warranty repair. From day 1 numerous rattles and squeaks. Door panels rattle constantly. Passenger seat rattles and squeaks. Windshield wiper entire arm came off, repaired at my expense. Out of warranty, at 41,699 miles but not even (2) years old, transmission had to be rebuilt at my expense. Chevy customer service is a joke! cost of transmission $2,442 and the cost of a two week car rental. Even when transmission line had to be repaired we had to rent a car at our expense because local dealer refused to supply a loaner. Again Chevy customer service a joke! called Chevy hot line/help line and was just given the run around. I will never buy Chevy american made auto again. Why is it you can buy any item at most department stores and take it back and receive satisfaction, but spend $25,000+ for a Chevy product and you are screwed when you simply want the reliability and service you were promised. I tell every person I meet not to buy a Chevy. Solid like a rock? what a lie!
