Blazer 6-cyl

In three different occasions, 2 in 06 and 2 in 07 the brakes failed to stop it's an intermittent incident. In 06 after incident, master cylinder brake was changed (not keep old part). After third incident, I took it to dealer. Their response was nothing wrong. But on my interview with head technician, mentioned that could be the ABS activating, like reading false instructions. What could be done, he said to change the sensors but there were three on the car and those were expensive and then there are more other components to the ABS that could also be the cause of failure. I started to investigate on the internet to understand the ABS and then to see if I was the only one, and then looking for recalls. I came to an article that described the failure exactly as it has happened to me all these past events and reads:...sidebar: What are the most common failures with ABS that you have detected from your vehicle inspections" folck: Well, in the General Motors trucks and vans, the 4-wheel kelsey-hayes antilock brake system. The brake pedal is supposed to just pulsate a little bit and stay in position, but sometimes it goes to the floor. Sidebar: What does that indicate when it goes to the floor? folck: That there is a failure in the ABS. They have a problem with their algorithm, and it won?T set a failure code in the kelsey-hayes 4-wheel. In laymen"S terms, an algorithm is a sequence of functions the computer is supposed to take. There are glitches in the algorithm, and GM has acknowledged the algorithm failures. (eds. Note: See the article in the money section of usa today, "GM: Computer glitch could affect brakes", 05/22/98.)"... first of all, my safety is first and the manufacturer has to fix this problem right away. I am not in the position of selling the car since I am still paying dearly for it and second, I would not like to pass this problem to someone else.

I was in a drive through which looped around the building. I applied the brake to stop at the window and could feel the ABS engage and the vehicle did not want to stop. It scared me and of course I reapplied the brake quickly, to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me, and I was finally able to stop. This happened again a few weeks later at a large intersection at a red light. I was 7 months pregnant at the time and was pretty scared. I have heard several of these complaints and I know that the brakes on every year before this were recalled. I also had trouble with the brake lights and four-ways, which stopped working. I was driving and the four ways came on. I had to pull over and ended up holding the button down while I drove in order for them to stop flashing. Shortly after the turn signals stopped working. Finally, the speedometer temporarily stopped working, then shortly after that, the heat stopped working, the vehicle only blowing cold air. We replaced the thermostat but the heat still would not function. I ended up getting rid of the vehicle because of the numerous malfunctions.

Since I bought my 2001 Chevy Blazer, I've had to replace ball joints everytime I have a front end alignment. This year I've replaced 3 wheel bearings, fuel pump, and I just lost my transmission. I've had the light recall fixed. My service engine light stays on, but you cannot put a computer to it because it doesn't work. My ABS light comes and goes. Whats next?

The ABS seems to be activated even in slow stops and I lose complete control of stopping the vehicle. This happens randomly since I purchased the vehicle in July 2005. I had several near crashes. It acts up more when the road is slick. Several mechanics told me it was ABS but they could not pinpoint the problem until now.

1) ABS and E-brake light continually come on; unsure if ABS system is functional; I have had the computer tested and it returned no faults 2) side windows work intermittently; no explanation; windows will not roll down for days at a time and then they work fine for days at a time 3) sunroof no longer functional; Chevy dealer said the "heat" warped the internal parts and they broke as I rolled it back; weather was mild and the breakage happened at 0500 in the am; I don't believe it was heat related 4) rear of vehicle is has drastically fallen below the front; I have no explanation as to why; it looks as if the vehicle front suspension was raised and the rear was lowered; drives fine, but feels unsafe all of the above happened shortly after the warranty expired, between 40000-50000 miles.

Not only have I had problems early with hub and bearing-- and also replaced ball bearing-- now the ABS-- manufacturers has done poor job on brake. Wheel parts- very cheap parts-- many talk about it and know that the Blazer has had problems with these parts. My family has purchased Chevy's for years-- I am now never about to purchase a Chevy again. While I pay my car payment, I always purchase new. I am always also paying for work done on this vehicle, and I am talking- over 2,000 so far and again have to go in today-- I may even trade it in I am so pissed. We also had problems with my husbands truck..I don't know what they did, or who they purchased their parts from, but surely went to cheap parts, they( Chevy) put many consumers in a bad spot. And I have written a complaint before- when I had the Chevy Blazer 2001 for a year half. They seem to want to only hear if I died cause of the failures that it would be looked into.

When utilizing the brakes, normally or in an emergency, the mechanism lock causes the vehicle to continue to move. The brakes regularly click when stepped on. A 'manager' at the office of the president at Chevrolet na stated there is no problem with the way the vehicle stops. When I insisted, he stated next time perhaps I 'should buy a Toyota". I am afraid to drive the vehicle except for very short trips and not on any main street or highway. This happens repeatedly. The latest date is reflected below.

On 11/20/01 I pressed brake pedal to floor but my brakes failed causing my vehicle to bump a vehicle in front of me (bumped vehicle at very slow speed due to heavy stop and go traffic). I initially thought that my foot merely slipped off the brake pedal as after the incident my brakes worked properly. However, on the following day (11/21/01) my brakes failed a second time. I had to swerve onto the shoulder of the road in order to avoid an accident and was finally able to get my vehicle stopped. After a short period of time, my brakes were operational again. At that point, the vehicle was taken to the closest Chevy dealership (heritage auto plaza in alexandria, va) where it remains as of 10:05 a.M. on 11/26/01.
