battery in trunk and rear ended battery in trunk and rear ended battery in trunk and rear ended

Battery placement in my 2014 Chevy Camaro was in the trunk. Right over the GAS Tank!!! Somebody had a brain freeze when they made that decision. I believe 2010 - 2015 models had batteries in the trunk.

Dahhhhhhhh - I was sitting still on a 4 lane highway, after a car had stopped because it ran out of gas. Two other vehicles had stopped before me. I was rear-ended by a Toyota RAV that was going 55-60mph.

What happens when you have a FULL tank of gas and battery is in trunk over that gas tank... and you are rear-ended? YES, Boom!! Up in 40 foot flames.

I was knocked out and when my car stopped, I immediately put the windows down and opened the door. (The chassis was built very good - Thank God!) I got out and walked around to help my husband get out of the passenger seat, and I notices the rear end on the passenger side was smoldering. I told him to move because the car was going to go up in flames.

Walked 1 1/2 lanes to the shoulder, turned around and WOW - the car was in 40 foot flames!!!!!

I believe my first thought was, "Wait, I am not driving a Pinto!!!"

Husband had cut his heel in the metal bar under the passenger seat and had 12 stitched at ER. There were no plastic covers on the rails. I checked other cars that had plastic covers but the Camaro did not. He ended up with MRSA and the 2nd time, he died. FU, GM.
