Captiva LTZ 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 111,000 miles

I recently had the horrible PO420 code. I took it over to the shop and they said I had no oil on my dipstick even though I had an oil change 3 months prior.

I then took it to Buick GMC dealership only because Chevrolet dealership did not listen to my issue and only wanted me to drop it off for repair.

The Buick GMC dealership told me this is a common issue with my engine and to contact GMC.

I am in the process of putting together documents in details to submit to a lawyer I have also been waiting for GMC specialist to reach out to me.

I am now out of a vehicle and must purchase a whole new one - this is ridiculous.

Captiva 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

This vehicle used lots of oil. I had the oil changed. Oil activation light quit working. Engine always dry and I was always adding oil. Motor blown, I am told now. This is a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport and they are saying 3000 to 4000 to repair. I see that there was a class action suit for 2010 to 2013. This is a 2014 with the same engine the 2.4.

Update from Dec 26, 2021: Had to have engine replaced with new engine. Had a garage put t a engine in that ran 3200.00 for the engine and 1200.00 for labor. 4400.00 later the car is running. Problem being still making payments on the vehicle and had no other choose.

Captiva LS Ecotec 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Had the oil changed in February 2019 a week later I had no oil on the oil stick and no oil light came on. I took it back to the oil change place and they topped my oil off. In May of 2019 I was low on oil again, I had to add oil to it to get home from work. I took it to the dealership and had the oil changed. They recommended that I put full synthetic oil. and to do an oil consumption test every 1000 miles and to call them if I have to add oil before the 1000 miles. I am a single mother and I rely on this vehicle to get back and forth to work. This vehicle is undependable and I can not afford to get it fixed.
