The dealer stated that the air bag module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 48,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail. The vehicle was destroyed and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. GM could not explain why the air bags failed. A collision mechanic stated that the air bags should have deployed. The VIN, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 50,000.
