Colorado Z71 3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

90,000 miles on Z71. Terrible electrical problem. Turn signals stop working, brake lights, and high beams, all at the same time. If you push the stalk to turn right the left dash indicator light will blink. If you push the stalk for a left turn nothing happens. If you pull the stalk toward you for temporary high beam and at the same time push down or up the turn signals will work but no brake lights. While this is all going on the dash indicator that your air bags are not working comes and stays on. You never know when this problem will correct itself and go back to normal. But just the same you never know when this crap will start all over again.

My odometer stopped working, then the check engine light stays on, my dome light is on/off, the heating panel lights are on/off, the tail lights are on/off. Today putting it in park did not click the doors unlocked. Couldn't power down the driver side but could the passenger side. Couldn't open the passenger side from the outside or inside. Next time I got in everything that didn't work did. I've been told I need a cluster then someone asked which one? I don't know which one figuring there was only one. I've been told to take it to a Chevy dealer. I've been told there might be a recall. It began by getting stopped for no plate lights. Took it to the garage and asked to check my dome light while they were at it. Should stay on for as long as the door is open. They started tracing the problem and couldn't back track. The computer shut them out. Needed an electrical harness. I had the truck undercoated in October and wonder if any of the issues is from the coating getting on the wires under the truck. I am so frustrated right now I am parking it until it needs to be inspected in January.
