problem #2

Aug 132008

Corvette

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

The car cranks (very strongly), but it will not start after it has been parked for a few hours. It will usually start on the first try if I try again an hour later, or maybe the next morning, or even days later. This is a very random problem (happens about one out of 50 attempts to start it), and the mechanics do not want to diagnose when it is not acting up. I am not sure if this problem is electrical or gas related. The battery is new, and charging it after several attempts to start does not help. I had the ignition module replaced and had no problems for the first couple months. Since then it has stranded me twice. The only possible warning sign is a day or two before the problem happens, it sometimes takes two attempts to start the engine in the morning when I leave for work.

(reported on)

Corvette Coupe 350

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

The worst part was troubleshooting, towed 2x but would start at dealer. They finally went to location and checked out the problem without towing it to dealer. Found computer for fuel injection was burnt out. This was replaced when we bought the used vehicle at 30000 miles. It probably burnt out because of the faulty ignition switch, my assumption not the dealer, both were going on at the same time.
