Started my 2003 Vette and it said "PULL KEY WAIT 10 SECONDS" did that, then restarted car and it said "SERVICE COLUMN LOCKED" I then tried numerous things, then called GM. GM said there was a recall on my car in 2004, it was done (previous owner) and now it is "CLOSED" I said apparently the replaced part is also defected, but they said there isn't anything they will do about my car. I can not drive my car because the steering wheel is locked! GM has no concern that due to no neglect of my own, I or a grandchild passenger could be killed due to their refusal to correct their "DEFECTIVE LOCKED STEERING COLUMN". I am the 2nd owner and only put 3,000 miles on the corvette. My corvette will only go straight forward or straight backwards, thank you General Motors for your CONCERN telling me there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU WILL DO ABOUT MY CAR!

I know this crash was from the E.C.L, no doubt about it.The Electronic Column Lock and what it was designed for was to stop car theft. "The first thing it does is lock your steering which can leave the driver helpless, with no steering, which could result in a crash." per GM. "The second thing it is suppose to do is cut your gas off " this did not work but did the opposite, and accelerated my car. So I am going faster with a locked steering wheel. GM claims I was going 38 mph. Well if you could explain to me how I blew out 3 tires, bent the frame, and damaged inside the vehicle, leaving passenger seat frame so bent her head would have been through the roof if she had stayed sitting up during the crash, and the convertible top was in place at this time. All this at 38 mph! This, one of many things that failed on my vett that day, will be addr. in a seperate complaint. I have driven 46 years with no accidents till this!!! GM now admits their problem on the internet. When a GM professional, informed me they were not doing anything for me, he laughed after saying it. This deeply hurt. I had this automobile for 4 1/2 years and pampered it, believe me and I treated it with the utmost respect it deserved and had hoped GM would have treated me with the same respect!!!!
