Corvette Z51 6.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,000 miles

I bought this 2015 Z51 Stingray from a dealer called Castle Chevrolet in Vila Park, Illinois, on 12/27/2017. I have put maybe 3000 miles on the car since and now it has 21000 miles on it. I noticed the wheels looked pretty dirty on the inside as i washed it but figured it was road dirt. It was time for an oil change so I lifted it up on my car hoist in my shop to do the oil change and noticed one of the shocks in front was leaking this black stuff on my wheel.

After checking closer, I soon found out all four shocks were leaking! I thought, okay, I will just replace them. Then I found out that they cost $600.00 each! I was in shock because that did not include installation! I got a break from Cambe Chevrolet dealership parts man in Knox, Indiana for $500 each. I replaced them all.

For the last couple of years, I did notice the car would shutter or have this feeling like I was driving over a wash board effect at 30 miles per hour and again at 60 miles per hour. I dismissed it hoping it was just the road. However, after noticing it more and more, I noticed it doing this at 1300 rpms and the tach would move from 1300 to 1400 during the vibration. It is so annoying that I no longer enjoy driving it.

I have been a mechanic all my life, but I did not want to tear into this car because of all the computer settings and I am not familiar with that. Also the automatic seat button for seat memory quit as soon as i bought the car. This is an expensive car, and I paid $55000 dollars for it! I am extremely dissatisfied with GM products at the moment.

I would hope they would address this issue and either buy it back or get me fixed up. Corvette is supposed to be the top of the line but I am not impressed. The engine has plenty of HP and only messes up at 1300 RPM, or a speed of 30 or 60 mph, but it is shaking enough that I can see the hood vibrate. The steering does not shake at all while this disturbing and annoying vibration is going on.
