Cruze 2LT 1.4L Ecotec Vvt Dohc

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,664 miles

FINALLY a mechanic sees the problem with the TURBO. Invoice states: "Customer states a intermittent ticking type noise from engine compartment at idle after a long trip road tested to verify concern, removed turbo charge to inspect. Found turbo charger waste gate pin worn from contact with waste gate arm. Replaced turbo charger and associated gaskets and seals, retested."

My car should be running like a dream now, right? By this time I have had my transmission and turbo fixed. Fixed is such a relative term. NO..I still have problems. Although for another 1000 miles the car works like it did during the first few thousand miles of ownership.

At this point I firmly believe Chevy CANNOT fix the problem with the Cruze. The parts just don't work together. I just love not knowing when my car is going to die. I have to drive to NJ to see my family...let's hope I don't have to post about the Cruze's problems during that trip.

Oh yes, I am contacting an attorney. I did buy the extended warranty.

Cruze ECO 1.4L I4

  • Manual transmission
  • 6,500 miles

So around 6000 miles I noticed this metallic clicking noise that would resonate from under the hood. Regardless of what revolutions the engine was at or if I was breaking, shifting, accelerating - it would happen at random. I thought that it would have something to do with the temperature of the exhaust system because after 20 minutes or so it would not occur. I took it to the shop to get looked at but they could not get the noise to duplicate. So this being my only vehicle, I just couldn't leave it there for an indefinite about of time. Chevrolet told me that they could not give me a rental vehicle based upon the idea that a customer is hearing a noise in the vehicle that cannot be duplicated. So I just continued to drive the vehicle. On Dec 17 I dropped the car off at the dealership to get looked at because I was going to be out of state for a few weeks (plenty of time for them to troubleshoot). I get a phone call a few days before Dec 25 and was told that they got the car to make the noise and think that it was isolated to a flex pipe in the exhaust system. So they ordered the part, installed it, tested it, and found that it was still making the noise. Now it is around January 1 and I am back home, but without a vehicle. So they gave me a rental and proceeded to troubleshoot more. They ended up deciding that the noise is coming from the transmission and got authorization from Chevrolet to replace the transmission. So that was about 12 days ago (January 4th) when they made that call. Today I am supposed to go pick up my car after it has been in the shop for 1 entire month (Dec 17 - Jan 16). Let's just hope the noise has stopped.
