The heater blend door actuator and or lever gear for the blend door actuator that controls the windshield defrost failed and this raises a major safety concern as it strictly limits your visibility. This is becoming a known issue on the Cruze as i have seen and heard of the problem repeatedly online in the cruze forums. This needs to be seriously addressed to general motors and be taken care of. Plus the cost to fix it is over $1,300 as the entire dash needs to come out. Please address this safety concern.

The drivers side wiper would not work when started today while it was raining while parked in my driveway. I took the cover off of the escutcheon above the wipers to see why the arm was not being driven by the motor. The arm moved freely back and forth on the windshield. The short arm from the wiper motor to the drive plate for the wiper was off. The arm would not snap back in place. It appears that the plastic knuckle has failed. When searching for wiper failures in the Cruze most of the complaints were for this identical failure. Many owners were driving on the road when it failed and I was fortunate that it failed before I left for work as it would have failed while driving in traffic. There are no recalls listed for this defective part. Since is an important safety issue I determined it is best to make this formal complaint. The part number for the wiper linkage is 95971326 and this is what needs to be replaced. The attached photos show the arm off in #1 and #3 while #2 shows the position where it is normally.

Thin, weak plastic used for gears on A/C air distributor lever. See part #53 in the attached partsdiagram.jpg for reference. This lever is located inside the dash, and is used to divert airflow to windshield/defrost. Cold weather causes this plasic to break when attempting to engage windshield/defrost airflow. This makes it impossible to get warm or dehumidified air to the windshield, which causes ice or fog to build up and results in unsafely diminished visibility. Issue occurred while vehicle was stationary and idling to allow windshield to defrost. Airflow was adjusted to blow to the windshield, and the distributor lever broke as the gear teeth engaged. See attached brokenlever.jpg for reference. Vehicle was approximately 3 years old at the time of the break. This part directly affects visibility in cold or humid weather, and should be more robust considering much of its function is to be used in cold temperatures. It is a very common point of failure and makes the vehicle unsafe to operate when broken. Cost of labor for replacing is prohibitively expensive due to its location inside the dash, behind the instrument panel.

The windshield wipers would randomly stick half way up the windshield when turned on, and also happen as soon as I would turn the car on. Was dangerous when driving in the rain because I could not see where I was going and had to pull over multiple times to clear the windshield.

While driving to work on a busy highway heading to danville va where the speed limit is around 55 to 60 mph during a wintry mix storm the driver side windshield wiper stopped working making it impossible to see. On various web sites this has been an ongoing issue with these vehicles. Thus far upon my research there are various causes for this to occur but the one that I know its not in my case is that I have bad wipers.these wipers were just recently replaced.

On 12-7-2018, I started my car for the day. Turned on the wipers. Then went to turn them on again to rinse the rain off and the driver side blade was lifeless. Had to have transmission replaced. Totally unacceptable I've seen other complaints online and I think there should be a recall because it is a serious safety hazard to not have the driver side wiper blade operational. The car was stationary. But it was a rainy day and I had to drive to work with no wipers. By the grace of god my work is literally three minutes from home. And my son is a mechanic at a Chevy dealership so I was able to have the problem fixed in a few days. But I'm sure there are quite a few people who are not so lucky that are stuck with this problem. I looked it up online and saw a 25 complaints other than mine and it happened to them while their car was in motion.

When driving my car never ends up heating up, this makes me choose between being able to see or being able to be warm. This is a major problem living in Wisconsin and I am not able to heat my car up in the winter. The only way that a little heat will come out is if I've already drove 5+ miles and I keep my car above 3500 rpms. This is not acceptable and makes it a major safety hazard to drive in the winter. It will do this when stationary, in motion and whenever. This car does not heat up.

Today while driving in rain/snow mix my drivers side windshield wiper went left and hung up on the drivers window, pulled off the interstate and put it back on to the windshield and its lifeless, the passenger side is still operating fine, wiper blades were 2 months old so it has nothing to do with it. The car is at 82,000 miles and this is unacceptable! I proceeded to drive looking out the middle of the windshield just to get to my job, this is very dangerous and there should be a recall.
