Cruze LT2 1.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

When the problem first started, I started to idle rough and die on occasion in driveway or stop lights. A loud screeching sound like a belt rubbing (at all rpms). I took it in and was told the check engine light was for the evaporation system and they would have to try and fix this and then that and maybe this at my expense as it wasn’t covered under warranty. Knowing my brother had issues with his 2013 Cruze we talked and mine was doing all the same things. His turned out to be a bad intake gasket.

Also, both cars developed an issue with the traction control, stabilitrac causing it to error in the computer. Mine would randomly come on while driving and about 20% of the time cause rpms to drop to idle and no power even with peddle floored. After the third trip to dealer and $700 out of pocket. The check engine light came on in the parking lot of dealer when he picked it up.

After already lodging a complaint with Chevy Corporate, he called them again and while speaking with a rep he was asked... did your insurance company send you a plug-in device? Even I thought that was a strange question. She then explained that those plug ins cause a bug in the code and causes the computer to error and creates a cascade effect. Knowing PCs pretty well I know that if you leave a disc in the drive it eventually causes the pc to have issues. They made the dealer replace the computer and no more problems.

I ended up selling mine because I refused to deal with it. Even tho I absolutely loved my car, I wasn’t going to deal with Chevy to fix a problem they know is on their end but want me to pay to fix.

Cruze LT 1.4L V4 Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,788 miles

Purchased vehicle at Buck Chevrolet in Fulton Canal, OH. Dealer slid extended warranty into the deal without pointing out added costs. Dealer NEVER provided any further documentation concerning extended warranty. Called dealership numerous times in attempt to get necessary warranty paperwork. Dealer never complied, never returned phone calls, refused to pick up when placed on hold.

The PCV valve and top cover are becoming problematic in this model. Rough idle when stopped, frequent stalling.
