I live on a fixed income and do not have a $1000 to fix a broken plastic part that requires the whole inside dashboard to be dismantlled because of Chevrolet cheap ass plastic parts that they should replace on their dime.

So I own an Equinox and the heat went and about three years ago. I had the heater core replaced at my expense by a mechanic and now, three years later, I am back in the same boat with no heat heading into a Maine winter and the car only has 96,000 miles on it.

Equinox LS 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

I bought this car because my dad is a former GM employee (hates foreign). Great mileage, great ride...then the horrors began. I have had no heat (or little heat) going on a year now. I changed the thermostat last year. I changed the water pump last week. I had heat the day we changed it...then nothing. The temps have been in the teens so having no heat is a bit of an inconvenience. I guess our next step is to tear apart the dash to replace the blend door actuator and hope that is the problem. Got great instructions from handymanlyness.com. I know I can do it, it's just the time involved. I see that the Equinox has had numerous issues related to heat. Just hope it's not the head gasket! Will never buy American again.
