Equinox LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

I took my wife's car to have it checked out before our required emission test. I was told that there was a leak coming from the EGR tube (they showed me the leak at the top portion of the tube "fumes were visible").

I did some homework on-line and saw that this was something that I could do myself. I purchased the EGR tube for $100.97, When I tried to remove the bolts for the replacement, the bolts were very difficult to loosen. I sprayed a "LOT" of DW40 to help loosen up the bolts. I was very cautious with this procedure because I didn't want to break the bolts inside the housing. After the first one broke, I proceeded to try and remove the other two at the manifold. Guess what!!!!! They also broke!!! I went back to where I purchased the EGR tube and was told that "this was a common problem". I asked if there was a possibility of drilling out the bolts and was told that "it couldn't be done". It was recommended to me to purchase the complete kit (UPGRADE OF COURSE) because the 2005 Equinox doesn't have replacement parts for this procedure??? The kit will cost me almost $250 not including the $100.97 that I paid for the EGR TUBE!! I called a few muffler services and was told that it would cost me about $250 to $350 because I attempted to do this on my own and broke the bolts and they didn't know how much damage I did to the manifold??? Not to mention the tow to take it to whatever muffler business I choose to do the job.

The issue is "why" Chevy didn't see or know this would be a problem down the road. I have a 2005 Chevy that is easy access to repair but yet it might cost me almost $500 to fix something that I don't have the $$$$$ to fix, something that (CHEVROLET) should have known. I keep trying to find out if this problem has been on a recall but I can't seem to find anything relating to this problem. If Chevrolet is trying to draw more customers for trade in's "COUNT ME OUT"!!!

Equinox LS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,555 miles

This is an EGR tube that rusted apart ..causing a lot of emission problems and noise ... Can't buy one because they discontinued the type that fits a 2005, which I strongly believe that if you are not able to buy the EGR tube the vehicle should have been recalled and fitted with whatever was needed to fix it.

I am really disgusted with General Motors for not correcting something that they are responsible for. I contacted GM by telephone and to no one's surprise got no satisfaction.

Equinox V6 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO CHEVROLET DEALER FIRST OF MARCH AND HAD ALL THE HOSES ,BATTERY CHECKED OIL CHANGE AND TRANMISSION FLUID DRAINAGE AND REPLACED.EVERTHING WAS IN GOOD SHAPE.THE FIRST OF MAY MY CAR WAS MAKING A ROARING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED DOWN.I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED SO I WENT TO PRO AUTO PLACE THAT WAS IN MY AREA AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE EGR TUBE WAS WORN COMPLETELY INTO AND WAS CAUSING EXHAUST FLUMES TO COME INTO MY CAR. I HAD TO HAVE A EGR KIT TO REPLACE THE EXHAUST VALVE BECAUSE PROBLEMS THE GMC WAS HAVING WITH THE EQUNIOX INSTEAD OF PAYING 170.00 I HAD TO PAY 280.90 FOR A KIT BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT GMC RECOMMENDED.

NOT ONLY THIS PROBLEM MY BATTERY WAS VERY WEAK AND HAD TO REPLACE THAT.MY ODOMETER LIGHT IS OUT AND IT WAS GOING TO COST ME 380.00 TO REPLACE A CLUSTER WHICH MY MILES ARE TURNING AND CAN READ THE MILES BUT CANNOT SEE AT NIGHTIME I CHOSE TO NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY SPENT 780.00 GETTING ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR OUT OF MY VEHICLE.I THINK CHEVROLET OWNS ME 280.90 BACK DUE TO MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM.I GOT NO RESPECT AT THE CHEVROLET PLACE HERE IN MY TOWN AND HAD TO PAY A PRICE FOR NO SERVICE WAS DONE IF IT WAS THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN MY BATTERY WAS WEAK IF THEY HAD CHECKED ALL THE PIPLE AND HOSES THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN THE VALVE GOING BAD.

I HAVE ALWAYS BROUGHT CHEVROLET CARS BECAUSE I NEVER HAND MUCH WORK OF ANY PROBLEMS,BUT NOW DEALER DO NOT FIX YOUR VEHICLE IF THEY DO IT WILL COST AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING TO YOUR VEHICLE I RELY ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO MY JOB I TRAVEL IN MY COMMUNITY AS A NURSE AND NEED MY VEHICLE IN GOOD RUNNING ORDER.I JUST DON'T THINK CAR DEALERS CARE ABOUT YOUR VEHICLE THEY DO WHAT THEY HAVE TO AND CHARGE OUTRAGEOUS PRICES AND PEOPLE THAT NEED THEIR VEHICLE HAVE TO PAY AND DO WITHOUT OTHER THINGS.I CANNOT RELY ON CHEVROLET TO SERVICE MY CAR AND SO WHY WOULD I WANT TO BUY A VEHICLE FROM THAT DEALERSHIP.
