Equinox LT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,000 miles

Went to leave for work and car went into engine loss mode and the transmission slammed into gears. Wasn't going to drive it to work like that, so i had to find a ride to work the next two days until it was found the issue was occurring due to a backed up sunroof drain that was letting water into my car and wetting and corroding the main plug of the wire harness under the drivers floor carpet.

Ok so I bought a 2006 Chevy Equinox. A few months later I noticed that there was leaking in my car. I took it to the dealership and they initially thought it was either a bad sunroof or a bad windshield that was making it leak in my car!!

So they changed both with brand new windshield and sunroof. Ok no problem. Thanks. But low and behold a few months later the same problem appeared again. Leaking through the lights, HORRIBLE!!! and my floor boards where soaked!!!

So I took in again. This is when the lovely dealership told me that the problem was that pine needles and such where getting into the draining lines, so when it rains it is diverted into my car. They said that the solution was to have them clean out the drains and don't park under any pine trees. Fine except for the fact that where I live there is nothing BUT PINE TREES!!!! So now I am reduced to having to put a shower curtain overmy car each time I park so that there stupid pine needles don't get into my drain holes. This is a VERY VERY VERY VERY annoying problem and I don't have the money to keep spending, mind you it it between 200-400 dollars to have it cleaned out each time!!! I am so annoyed and while never get another Chevy and if I do I won't get one with a sunroof!!!!!!!!!

Car is a piece of sh*t. As I was driving it 3 lights came on, accelerator stopped working, became hard to steer. When I pulled off the road and turned it off, I tried turning it on again and it wouldn't. Once at the dealer they said it was water leaking from my sunroof down through the cables on the side of the car then into the engine, screwing everything up. Then they "fixed" it by readjusting the sunroof and said there were no more leaks. Then I noticed it is leaking on the drivers side floor. It is ALWAYS wet. I also hear a sloshing sound occasionally which sounds like there is water up on that side which I have never heard before. I stupidly bought an extended warranty that doesn't cover water damage and I have no idea why it is now leaking onto my floor and probably is still leaking into my car too. What a piece of SH*T.

i purchased the car in October 2009. within 2 months, the car's driver and passenger sides were covered in sheets of ice. when i took it to the dealer, he told me the sunroof drains were clogged. He took a metal rod and shoved it down in the drain holes. the problem stopped for a while, but about a month ago, i had puddles in my car again. it smells bad, and i'm PISSED! can chevy do something about this? i tried to unclog the drains myself with a wire hanger. Today there was no water on the passenger side, but i need rain boots for the driver's side.

This is the second time that I have had to take this vehicle in to have this issue fixed. It would be nice to know that when it is fixed this time, the fix will last more than a couple of years, but I guess the car was not made to last like that.

Seriously i think it's a huge problem when i go to get in my car and the floorboards are flooded!!! i dont mean just wet i mean standing water a couple of inches deep. i have nothing but issues with this car since we bought it. as soon as its paid off i am getting rid of it. I loved it in the beginning but lately if it not flooded from the sunroof it is in the back spare tire holder.

Equinox LT V6

  • Automatic transmission

Vehicle went to dealership twice with dash sensor lights on. First time was told issue was resolved & two days after taking vehicle home, it happened again only worse. Had to pay for flatbed towing & water leak check. Turned out that drainage in sunroof caused electrical/sensor issues. Of course I had to pay the bills. Don't bother getting an extended warranty, because they don't cover anything. What s***s about this is that GM installed the sunroof & I have to pay the repairs on it when their falty installation fails. HMMMMMM.........thinks it's time to by a TOYOTA!
