I had to have the car battery changed 3 times in the past year. No mechanic was able to indicate why until just earlier today. The motor for the rear wiper blades was the cause of the battery being literally drained. It was using 3 full amps. When the mechanic disconnected the motor to the rear wiper, the battery is now utilizing 5.5 milli-amps which is approx. 1/55th of the power. Therefore, the motor for the rear wiper blade was using up 55 times the amount of energy from the battery when all the time we thought it was a defective battery, but now realize it was the motor to the rear wiper all along and it now has cost me $750.00 Cdn and the inconvenience of my time.

It is frustrating not knowing that something like this could happen. It's very fortunate to know that a very reliable mechanic in our town was able to detect this problem. I would like Chevrolet to compensate me for the funds, the use of CAA several times and the inconveniences this has caused me. I am very disappointed!!

Update from Feb 4, 2016: I called the Chrysler HQ and due to the failure of the motor device, I have had to call CAA to tow the vehicle at least 3 times for what we thought was a defective battery. Now we understand it is an electrical defect in the vehicle that was draining the battery excessively. Chevrolet refuses to compensate us for the unknown troubles we have had. Also, they expect that the diagnosis we require will now additionally come out of our pocket. When this is their problem, I am expected to pay for something that is a definite vehicle defection?? I am upset about this.

Have sensor lights going off all the time, had stabilitrac and traction control lights going off . I had to replace EGR valve sensor and that so far has fixed the light warnings. I still have many other issues. The Airbag light says that the air bag needs to be serviced and the airbag cover on the front passenger dashboard is cracking as is the airbag is ready to deploy anytime?

I also have to change the head lights very often! my rear tail brake lights I have changed about 5-6 times this year! there is moisture in the front head lamp that never dries?

I WILL NEVER buy a Chevy again!

JUNK

BTW

The dealership wont help. They are garbage! DON'T BUY A CHEVY, They are NOT what they used to be!

I bought a car with a moon roof for a reason. Problem is I'm afraid to use it because it is making a horrible noise when I try and open the roof. With the other electrical problems I am afraid that it may stay open and I won't be able to close it when it rains or when I am at work. I have only bought Chevy cars (American) my entire life, (6 cars total) mostly from a dealer that was forced to close a few years ago after cash for clunkers. I am now considering getting rid of this car before I have more go wrong with it and buying foreign....

Now my car's interior electrical will not shut off when I turn off the car. I noticed the radio didn't turn off a few days ago and now its the interior lights and radio. This is the fourth electrical problem I have had in a few months with this car. The first few were annoying, but this last one leaves me worried that the battery may die and I can't get to work.

Door switch on the driver's side went out no apparent reason. Really? Dare I say this is the very reason I never buy American. If I could go back and reclaim my Nissan I would, but, I just couldn't afford to keep it. This vehicle is one headache after another. I'm going to be trading it in next month, so it will be someone else's headache. The window will no longer function just out of the blue. It's an irritant to have to open my door whenever I need to get into the access door at work and at home. The cost to replace it is over $300. Really Chevy??

Ok so the p/s door lock stopped working. took the problem to chevy and they said it would cost $350 to fix. I didn't have them fix it cuz it was only one door. Now the driver side lock just stopped working, wow now I can't secure my car at all. So I'm sure that this is a problem that chevy need to address cuz I've had it since 08 and I've only got 97000 miles on it now so that's something that's not a normal fix. Out of all the cars I've ever worked on that's not a normal problem.

I was the first owner and personaly i think it is a load of cap that the dealership said that they have not heard of this problem before this.

I would not recomend that enyone buy a equinox.I thougt i was geting a good vehicle but instead i got a pieace of junk.

Friday night I got a weird message on my dashboard saying "Service Tire Monitoring System" and checked my tire pressure... everything was fine. I walked around the car and checked the tires, making sure there was no flats and got back in the car. I pulled out of the gas station and went to turn up the radio. I turned the volume up as high as it would go, but there was no sound. I tried turning it off and back on, but still nothing. I thought that was a little odd seeing as my car is only 6 months old. I pulled up to my boyfriend's aunt's house and went to lock my car, but again... nothing. No flashing lights, no honking horn... I tried opening the doors to close them again and the alarm went off. My keyless entry wasn't working either! Friday night and the dealerships were closed and would not open until Monday. I spent the whole weekend driving around with no radio, unable to unlock my car without setting off the alarm, and there was nothing I could do about it until Monday!!!
