Equinox LS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,856 miles

The vehicle only had 64,856 miles on it, not driven a whole lot for a 2008. The fuel smell was horrendous. Even from the inside, but the outside it smelled like you had just doused the vehicle with gas! Even when we took it in, the service writer walked up and asked if we had just put fuel in the car? Told him NOPE, been smelling like this for a couple of months. No drops on the carport, just the gaseous smell. It seems there was a crack in a plastic washer in the fuel pump. They found this AFTER removing the fuel tank and not finding anything wrong with the tank. When they called us to come pick the vehicle up, they said it was $1256 but that it wasn't going to cost us anything! They had to replace the fuel pump under policy coverage 12191. Don't know what that is, but really don't care as long as it is fixed!

gas smell inside and outside of vehicle

This just tops the cake....a plastic return/supply on fuel pump, or a clean air cannister, or catalytic converter??? What the heck did they make this vehicle out of?????I have four or five major issues with this thing. I have heard of a lemon but there are so many with the same issues.
