problem #3

Dec 062016

Equinox LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

The dealership kept my car for two weeks, got it back and less than a week having the same problem again. Very frustrated with this car!!! Second major problem I've had! What's next?

problem #2

Equinox Sport 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

I had to have the transmission replaced summer 2013 at about 130k miles, I am having issues sporadically with the shifting, I received a letter from Chevy in March of 2015 stating that my vehicle may have a cracked or fractured wave plate resulting in a loss of 3rd, 5th, and reverse gears. The vehicle sporadically does not shift into 3rd gear and I have to stop and turn it off for at least a minute to reset and then it may or may not do it again. I just have to repeat this process until it resets. In the letter Chevy states the fix will be covered if the vehicle is under 10yrs and 120k miles. They will not repair it at their cost because it is over the allotted mileage. Very disappointing. Bad enough I had to have the tranny replaced at such low miles, but now this....and it is all at my own cost. :-(

Equinox Sport 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

General Motors has had a problem with this transmission for along time. 52,000 miles, once the wave plate goes it wipes out the transmission. Their fix was to give me a $2,000 voucher for a new 2015 chevy, just what I want to do after they treated me the way they did. Sorry folks, this is Corporate America.

I went through all the proper channels notifying them of the problem. Granted it was 7 months past the warranty of 5 years 100,000 miles, but at 52,000 miles, They said the rebuild shop I had it fixed at did not put GM parts in it, they could do no more. Thank goodness they installed a better designed wave plate. I had it repaired at a local shop AAMCO. A $4,000 repair was what it cost me to have my transmission repaired. So sad.

I have been a customer of Ford for years, they always treated me right. This was my first chevy, and it will be my last. If you have noticed I did not capitalized chevy and did Ford, the reason is that they do not deserve a capital as they were not proper to me.
