problem #1

Oct 312010

Equinox LT 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,321 miles

The first time auto time change occurred, the radio/navigation system did not auto update properly. Changed time manually, but every time afterwards car was shut off, time was lost - reverted to EST or DST, whichever was wrong at the time. Also navigation details stored were lost randomly. Touch screen failed to work (on touch mode). Took to dealer and was told that I had to book appointment for a specialist with radio/navigation (another day).

Ultimately, software was reloaded and system worked better, but only for a few weeks. Similar failures have occurred routinely over past three years. Now I don't even bother going to dealer for reporting/frustration. Numerous complaints all over the web of this and similar issues with the navigation/radio system. At minimum, GM should provide a DVD or flash memory installable by owners, since this problem continuously occurs. Right now, my car is on Greenwich mean time whenever I start it. I have no stored destinations, the HVAC doesn't control to the set temperature and the navigation is only up-datable by paying GM for a GPS update DVD. These should be provided for free for the first 5 years at least.

Essentially, this > $3000 option has never worked correctly after the first few months of operation.
