you would think after spending 30,000.00 for a car it wouldn't continue to cost for constant repairs

Just another problem with the Equinox. One day the a/c worked, although not very good, and the next it just stopped. The a/c never did work very good but when you expect it to work and it doesn’t, it sucks, not a good situation when you have a very hot day and your toddler is in the car with you.

A/C went out today, took car to dealer..............ESTIMATE $900 plus the $45 for them to tell me it would cost $900!!!! Notice my vehicle just has 103,000 miles which means it's BARELY out of warranty!!! I waited a long time to buy an equinox and so far it's the worst decision I've made!!!!! WE WERE VERY LOYAL TO GM FOR 20 YEARS AND NOW I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT ANY AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN!!!!!!

Equinox LT 2.4L 4 Cl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,754 miles

Item number 4 of the list of issues. As I type this the vehicle is having the throttle body replaced at a cost which I am guessing will be $450 or more. The dealer did mention that it was time to change the spark plugs at an additional cost of only $175. Amazing to hear since the dealership was very aware of how upset I was about another costly repair.

My a/c first went out 2/2015 and not so lucky for me, that was right after my warranty ran out. It was a leak in the a/c line, $200 later I had a/c.

Fast forward to 3/2016, no a/c again and this time it was the "compressor". After complaining to corporate Chevrolet, cost to me was approximately $600. Fast forward to now, car at the dealership as we speak with you guessed it, no a/c again. This time it's the "condenser".

After complaining to management about a third a/c issue in roughly 15 months, they are knocking off $150 so total cost to me is $439. You can't convince me that something isn't faulty with the a/c unit in my car. A 2011 vehicle isn't that old for there to be this many a/c issues. I have seen multiple a/c complaints on various websites with this make and model vehicle, but Chevrolet won't own up make a recall.

I will likely never purchase another Chevy and I will never deal with Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Short Pump, VA again!!! My anger is in part with them b/c I feel as though the condenser was probably the issue 2 months ago and not the compressor that i wasted money on. And since they didn't show me the diagnostic report, I have no way of proving it.

Don't really know what to make of the AC/Heater. Sometimes it will just stop working for about 1 minute then kick back on. This will happen no matter what you have your fan speed set to or what you have your vents set to. Sometimes the defrost will not kick in until you turn the car off and turn it back on after you have turn the fan speed back to the off position. This is really a nuisance - annoyance, inconvenience, bother, irritation, and problem in the winter months.

Equinox LS 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,000 miles

On June 22nd, I took my Equinox to the dealer to get it fixed. I bought it from Ford as a used car; they were unable to fix it so they sublet it out to Chevrolet. 52 days later I finally got my car back, the first time... for the air conditioner not working. Turns out the shaft inside the compressor broke sending metal fragments throughout the entire system. 6 compressors for condensers, an evaporator and 52 days later, I finally got my car back. Two days later I brought it back because the AC was not working again. Two weeks later I get it back and then two days later I brought it back, it still doesn't work right. This went on back and forth back and forth back and forth eight times.

Finally got my car back, now the heater doesn't work. Now my car is back at Chevrolet and they said that the blend door actuator is broken and I have to pay for that to be fixed because its not covered under warranty so there's $200 that I have to pay out of pocket. I love my Equinox, it is a beautiful car, I love the way it looks but this is the biggest piece of s*** car I've ever owned. I'm a diehard Chevy lover but I'll never buy another Equinox.

Update from Sep 30, 2015: I selected cooling in error, this AC/heater.

Equinox LS 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission

This problem with the A/C is HUGE!!! I have not gotten it fixed yet due to the estimated cost of repair and thankfully, it happened while in cooler weather. My mechanic is estimating the cost to be around $1,400.00. He thinks the problem is my condenser due to the evaporator coil being broken. He said he wants to start with just the condenser and see if that fixes the problem, but if not, then go onto the evaporator coil. This is a huge problem and shouldn't be happening in a 2011 vehicle.
