Equinox LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

Do modern cars still rust after a few years? I guess the Chevy Equinox does. The worst part about it is that in Canada there is a recall for it, but not in the United States!!!!! How ridiculous is that!!! They acknowledge the problem in Canada but not the US? IT IS THE SAME CAR!

When I mentioned it to the dealer they said the best they've seen GM do is fix it for 50% off, which would still make it a $600 dollar fix.

Update from Sep 20, 2018: The Canadians get a rust repair fix but Americans don't? This is terrible. IT IS THE SAME VEHICLE! Same winter conditions.

Clearly a flaw in the design and execution. TERRIBLE!!!!

Equinox LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,000 miles

All four doors on my Equinox have rust on the bottom. I took it in for an estimate to get it fixed and was shocked at the cost for repair. I have decided not to fix it at the dealership but I am trying to slow the rust on my own.

There are rust dots all over the car. I am meticulous about my car. I wash and wax it myself and I make sure to take it through a car wash during the winter months to remove dirt and salt. This is all in an attempt to make my car last and to keep it looking nice. With the amount of rust on the doors, it's a bit embarrassing.

I have never been so disappointed in a car. This is not the only issue I have had with my car. The list goes on. It's currently at the dealership to have it fixed, again, for the 4th time with the same issue in the past 2 years.

I would not be proud to put this product out. I will not recommend Chevy to anyone and I will never buy another Chevy.

Equinox LT 3

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,010 miles

I have never seen so much rust on a fairly new car. Bottom inside doors rusted, hatch door has several spots. Plus, there is a 1/2 dollar size chip off the front passenger fender. And the windshield wiper mechanism also has rust. GM Canada said it would not be covered because we were past our warranty period. This should not happen on a fairly new car. Not happy....

Equinox 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,000 miles

I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT MY BRAND NEW 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX HAD A RUST SPOT, THE SIZE OF A DIME, ON THE REAR HATCH, AT 3,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I WAS THE 4TH ONE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. I ACTUALLY GOT SICK IN MY STOMACH ,WHEN THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO PAINT THE HATCH OF MY BRAND MEW CAR ALREADY! THE BODY SHOP TOLD ME, THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THERE WAS CONTAMINATION ON THE METAL WHEN THE FACTORY PAINTED THE HATCH & THE SURFACE RUST CAME THROUGH OVER THE WINTER. I WAS IN CONTACT WITH CHEVY & I WAS DEMANDING A NEW FACTORY PAINTED HATCH, BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID THAT MY RUST PROBLEMS WERE ONLY BEGINNING. CHEVY SAID THAT THE ONLY THING THEY WOULD DO FOR ME, WAS TO RE-PAINT THE HATCH. I TOLD THEM, THAT HOW WOULD THEY FEEL IF THIS WAS THEIR BRAND NEW CAR. THEY SAID THAT THE HATCH WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY & I TOLD THEM THAT STILL DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT, THAT MY NEW CAR IS BEING PAINTED. I HAVE OWNED 8 BRAND NEW GM CARS & I TOLD THEM THAT THIS IS MY LAST ONE!!!!!
