Equinox LS 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

its super noisy on start up, rattles really bad, and when i come to a stop it always seems like it wants to stall on me. ticking noise comes from the engine (possibly the timing belt)

are there any recalls for this?

problem #1

Dec 232015

Equinox ES 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

Soooo....... finally reached 100,000 miles on my Nox. Took it to my favorite mom and pop shop for an oil change since I am no longer in fear of voiding an expensive warranty by not taking it to the dealership.

And discovered water in the oil. Awesomeness... great. I hate this car. I hate the dealership. My mechanic said this has been going on for quite some time. Obviously, this is the first I have heard of it.

Proceeded with the oil change, with a plan to watch and see if the coolant is leaking - leading to head gasket, or intake gasket replacement. After 2 months, there is not a change in the coolant level.... my car sounds like a bag full of soda cans being dragged behind a car, and it's still using oil. At least a quart every 1,500-2,000 miles.

This car is a comfy ride, but is not built to last. I fell in love the 2009 model after a 12 hour road trip with a friend.. Unfortunately, the new models do not have the mechanical integrity that will make it last. My last two Dodge/Chrysler vehicles lasted to 200,000 miles.... and never had any major repairs other than wheel bearings, and hoses.

I was going to fix it, as I trust my mechanic... but we both agree that the using oil is something that isn't worth my money. Going to trade it so I can be done with it.
