The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that when opening the rear hatch, the door would rapidly open and then erroneously close. The contact indicated that the safety feature designed to detect a person reaching into the rear hatch area was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Brittain Chevrolet (57 E. martin St, East palestine, oh) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.
