HHR LS

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Opened the sunroof and there was a loud clank sound. I reached up to find the bug guard that pops up was kinda dangling there. Turns out that while the guard is a metal bar with metal springs, the hinges (the part that operates most frequently) is plastic.

Chevy wanted a couple hundred dollars to replace the part. I looked online and found that other people have had this problem and even when they replaced it, it broke again. Instead, I ordered an aftermarket visor guard that fits on the roof. It works really well and is actually a lot quieter and shields some of the sun, too. But, it totally ruins the stream-line look of the HHR - which let's face it, is why anyone buys one of these crappy cars.
